Default what happened here??

I have an 06 auto non-revup .Today I had plenum spacer installed at AAM with their angled spacer i must say its really worth spending $370 i noticed the gain. Now something bad happened not really sure what it is, where its coming from or if it is connected with the spacer. When i accelerate from stop i hear some grinding noise sounds like from the transmission and it only happens when i step on the gas hard. I did a couple of hard acceleration from stop after the spacer install, then the problem occured. Does it sound like tranny problem maybe on the 1st gear? Will this be covered under warranty, i have only 6k miles?

it should be all covered under warranty..........but the dealer will try to blame any after market mod as the problem.just tell them about the mossmagnussun act and they will cover it as the plenum has nothing to do with nissan,s junk transmissions.

i thought 350Z auto tranny is well built it can handle mild abuse.
i only did 2 hard acceleration in a row and this happens.

If this is not the tranny i would guess its the torque converter

Make sure your strut tower brace isn't contacting your plenum. This will cause a vibration, and maybe even a noise as the vibrating engine would contact the brace under hard acceleration. Keep in mind there will less clearance between the two in a hot engine bay because of thermal expansion.

+1. I also have the angled spacer. It took me several runs up and down the road adjusting the strut tower brace so that it'd clear the plenum during engine torquing.

Did they do the install? Better hope they didn't drop a bolt down your engine....

but if that isn't the case, then something else is up. Kinda sucks that it happened after your engine mod.

/\ youre right, i had nissan check the problem this is exactly what they found. I went back to the shop who installed the plenum they adjusted the stuts bar to put space between the plenum and strut bar. Problem solved.

the mossmagnussun act is a law/rule that prevents the dealers for blaming problems that are car related due to after market parts. for instance some blame aftermarket exhaust or intake to be a problem with tranny....now honestly if you think bout it....an exhaust or intake would NEVER have anything to do with transmissions. the dealerships are just trying to cover their end due to their mistakes.
