+1

You void the warranty on the tranny, or any other part of the car for that matter, by not following the mfrs service directions and schedule.

Please read post #4 of this thread carefully.

If you look in your owners manual or maintenance manual, every fluid except for one includes the phrase "or equivalent" or lists a standards-body specification (API, SAE, DOT). Nissan J-Matic is the only one that doesn't include that "or equivalent" exception.

You can argue the point till the cows come home, but if you show up at a dealership with a failed auto trans, the bottom line that they will hold you to will be "use of non-approved ATF" as the cause of failure.

Agreed. I will use J matic until the waranty on my G expires. But after that any fluid that meets the secifications of J matic will be fine and I'd prefer Amsoil over J.

I did experiment with Motul synth ATF (can't remember particular type), which I thought was supperior to anything. It was not good - the tranny shifts were rough and kind of slow. Nissan Matic J seemed much more fluid and thin, it smoothened the tranny a lot.

Update:

I'll be running AMSoil ATF on my G35. After seeing many Infiniti and Nissan dealers now using BG ATF as the J-matic replacement, I don't see the reason of not to use the AMSoil ATF. I'll report back if there's anything wrong

My car is now at 63K miles.

JATCO provides a warranty to Nissan which provides the warranty to you.
JATCO will not warranty the tranny to Nissan if on their inspection non J matic is found inside.

JATCO is forcing this restriction on Nissan, thus no equivalent.

The problem is the stick/slip curve on the new dual lockup clutches..........anyway problems don't usually show up until just after 100k unless you increase the torque above specified limits [333 lb/ft on input shaft].
