i change my oil every 3k, but i have no other choice. everytime i go to change it, the oil level is down to 2 1/2 qts.
my cars is seriously burning oil!!!
What do you mean you have no other choice? have you considered adding oil
The oil will last a long time, the important thing is to change the filter at recommended intervals. Most filter companies are around 3-4k miles. The oil is still good to go.
yea i got the m-110 i remember that now! how often should I change that>?
The new marketing with the mobil-1 filter says the filter is good for 7500 miles. I don't really any information saying you should replace it before or after that. Although I believe the amsoil filters claim you can use them for the duration of your oil which is 25k (12k for severe use) miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. I doubt that there is much difference between the mobil-1 filter and amsoil filter, and you could probably get away using the mobil 1 filter for the duration of your change, especially with an oversize filter.
beautiful thanks, what advantages does an oversize filter give you?
Bigger filter = more filter media. More area means less restriction, which reduces the risk of oil starvation. It also allows you to run the filter media longer because it has more places for the grime to go.
The two reasons for me are re-sale (used car buyers many times like to see that manufactures service intervals were maintained)... and number 7 in the link you provided: http://www.carjunky.com/news/motor_oil/mom7.shtml
