Royal Purple question..
I put my first batch of RP in at 4500 miles and I am now at 10,059..Is it about time to replace the old with some new??
Also how often do you need to replace transmission fluid?

I change my amsoil every 9-10k miles or so. Amsoil recommends 12k miles for severe use, and 25k for casual use or 1 year whatever comes first. My car has 42k miles and has had this routine since 12k miles, and no problems yet.

I run mobil1 and change it every 3,000 miles strictly. Will be switching to German Castrol 0W30 (GC) next oil change... supposidly autozone has it, but i still have to find one that carries it.

I change out my RP every 3K miles...pretty standard for most people. You'll find plenty of people who hate on those who change this frequently...don't know why they throw a fit...YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH FRESH OIL. Do what you have a peace with...good luck!!

A good synthetic oil should provide decent protection for up to 10k miles. Most people that are replacing synthetic oil every 3k miles on a NA engine are just wasting perfectly good oil. I would change synthetic oil in at least 5k mile intervals. I think a good synthetic schedule is 5-7k mile intervals. Just make sure to check your oil every now and then... as that may allow you to form your own opinion on how often you may or may not need to change your oil. Every car is different. Naturally our cars have a tendency to burn a bit of oil so keep that in mind also.

If I'm not mistaken, a few people here how gotten an analysis of their oil at different intervals and have gotten pretty good results. I think Wired24/7 was one of them. I can't remember what the interval was but it was over 5K for sure.
