I'm assuming you read the Mobil 1 sticky thread.

Go read it again....and again....and again till you understand. Everyone uses a diff oil but they all have a few things in common...the main thing is that they are Group 4 synthetic oils.

If you just want a name...get the German Castrol Syntec 0w-30.

Now close the thread before you get murdered.

10w-30 in the summer and 20w-50 in the winter here. Fully synthetic, royal purple preferred.

I must be missing something, why would you go thicker in the winter?

I use 10w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer. hmmmm

The 0w-30 with the "euro blend" or "euro formula" stamping is the one to get...

the 5w30 castrol syntec got similar results as the 0w30 suprisingly, and the 10w30 shouldn't be too different, if not better than the 5w30 by a smidgen unless you live in a really cold climate.

I use Royal Purple. I would suggest:

1.) Royal Purple

2.) Motul

3.) Mobil 1

Notin any particular order but I have heard that Motul has a higher viscosity rating which reduces caking which means better lubricity at the extreme temp ranges.

The GC castrol 0w30 is discontinued. Get the 5w30 and submit for an oil analysis.

Finally switched to synthetic. Couldn't find any Amsoil on short notice, went with Royal Purple. HUGE difference. I've ran Moble 1 in other cars, but I could not believe the difference RP made i the Z. Smoother idle, smoother revs and I mean vast improvement. You will not be disappointed.

Buy a quality name-brand motor oil. Replace it regularly. That's all you'll ever need.

actually on bobistheoilguy forums, someone posted a OUA for 5w30 after ~7,000 miles for the Z engine. It was pretty good from what I remember. I'm switching my next oil change and will be doing some OUA.

Cool, I'll search for it and add it to the sticky.
