Hi,
I will be picking up a 2006 350Z (yeeeha!) and I'm wondering what kind of oil I should get to suit my driving.
I live in Canada, so we get our share of winter conditions, but summers are very warm. I will be doing some track days and autocrossing during summer months and drive it in winter time. It is my daily driver and I only on put about 10k miles/year.

Should I get oil change right now and use 10w40 and in November switch to 5w30?

If so, what brand would you recommend? (famous question, I know!) I looked at this thread and the top recommendations are
Amsoil TSO 0W-30
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-40
Redline 10W-40
Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30

So, should I now put in Mobil 1 0w40? What would I switch to before winter?

'06 6MT's w/ 300hp are having some oil consumption issues (search for threads) and synthetic is NOT recommended for these for break-in or for after due to more consumption with this. Conventional oil will do fine until a fix by Nissan is made for the oil issue.

 

any 10w-30 non synthetic would be fine, with different oils you are basically just buying the namebrand. they are processed at the same place, then shipped out.
