Default Plenum + exhuast = ?

Hey Doug, I noticed you tested the prototype plenum on a stock Track model Z. Generally intake and exhuast modifications work synergistically, so would it be logical to assume this modification may yield more horsepower for Z owners that already have an aftermarket exhuast?

I can't see the intake not working on the G35, and the headers should work but haven't been tested.

The plenum from what I could see looks different than the Zs...

All we could do is get it in the shop and look at it.

While it has a different cover, I'm pretty sure it is the same part underneath. I think the engines are virtually identical between the G35C and the Z.

I hope it fits the G35, and you are practically my neighbor too. I live in Memphis and have a coupe on order from infiniti of nashville to get here in june... it will be showroom new, but if you need a test-fit guinea pig I will be more than happy to swing by your shop...

I hope so too... don't get me wrong, but the Altima, Maxima, G35 Sedan, etc... all share the same engine... all VERY different plenums.

Thou again... I hope you're right!

I think there is one for the

FWD VQ's like the Murano, Maxima, Altima

and one for the

RWD VQ's like the 350Z, G35, G35 Coupe, FX35
The intakes aren't even the same from what I've read from the G35 sedan to the coupe. I think the G35C and the 350Z share pretty much the exact motor, but the lower HP versions are slightly different in intake and ECU.

I thought this is a total redesign. and not a port and polish. So why do you need to send in the stock manifold?

There should be a pretty significant market for an aftermarket plenum for the VQ35 Max's. Our intake manifold has been well recognized as being a weak point for us. Any chance you might develop something for us. As was pointed out, I believe the 02-03 Altima shares the same intake manifold as us.

Yeah Doug, there would be a large market for a Maxima/Altima plenum if you guys could develop one that makes around 15 hp or more. I know I'd buy one!

How come the redesigned plenums I've seen curve around the back of the motor like the stock one? Why not put the inlet on the front of the engine and stick the TB there so it has a straight shot at the intake? I would think that the sharp bend just as it turns to enter the back of the manifold is a big restriction to smooth airflow. Any particular reason or is just that companies don't want to nullify the aftermarket parts that have been made already (Like Injen, AEM CAI's and the like.) for the OEM factory style manifold?

Agreed... this would be ideal.

Cost of development first and foremost would be too expensive. More importantly... it wouldn't fit.

I posted my pics of the drive here btw.

No plenum shot. I'll let Doug post that when he's ready.
