Default Crank Pulley Question

Why do a lot of people on this board say not to use a light crank pulley if you plan on going turbo or supercharged? I know a lot of people who use light weight crank pulley's with their boosted setup.

don't underdrive with the vortech. Lightweight is fine as long as it's the same diameter. Underdrive pulleys will lose power from the vortech and make less boost

If you are installing forced-induction, why mess with inconsequential bolt-ons like a crank pulley?

i could see using one for a turbo, since its exhaust driven. But, for vortech no. You dont want to underdrive the vortech.

could you then get a smaller pulley for the vortech, one that is 85% smaller would match the UR size. Then youd probably need a new belt. @3.33 stock, 85 is 2.83, does that seem right?

bad part is, ill find out eventually. Im going vortech, but couldnt seem to get my ur crank pulley off when i went to sell it. Gonna have a shop look at it.

its fine for a turbo car

no reason you could not use the stock diameter lightweight crank pulley on the Vortech equipped car though
