Default 2007 MT Tranny Whine

I am not sure if this is normal or not and I was just looking for some reassurance from other members with 2007 MTs. I didn't notice it so much at first when I got the car, but it was colder and my windows were always up. There is a fairly high pitch whine that sounds like it's from the tranny and it speeds up with the RPMs. It is fairly audible because I can usuauly hear it all the way through 1st and then to about 3-4k RPM in 2nd and after that the speed and wind drowns it out.

Now I know the A LOT has been changed in the '07s and the clutch setup is completely different from the flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder on the output shaft replacing the fork, etc. I am wondering if this is common for the new setup or if something is starving of lubrication or something is wrong. Thanks for any help.

Mine is at about 3400 miles. Mine if anything started later. Sounds like it is a tranny issue and not a clutch/slave cylinder issue.

The tranny works fine I mean it's smooth, gears are good there is absolutely nothign wrong with the car...just the noise.

Gears go in fine , smooth. but there is that whine always and only on 1st gear! I feel like I'm driving an 18wheeler

I have a 2007 MT with 250 miles on it now. I noticed the same thing. Only in 1st or lower rpms in 2nd. I am thinking its pretty normal if we all have the same sound. You dont really notice it too much if you shift out of 1st at about 10mph. If you get on it in 1st you can def. hear it.

I HOPE its normal.

The whining noise is normal. The 07's are a bit louder than previous models, but I sorta like it. It sounds like we all have a charger. Once you change your trans and rear end fluid, it'll get really loud when its cold but once it warms up it will go away.

My '06 tranny does the exact same thing. I even changed the fluid to Mobile 1 75w90 Gl-4. Still makes the whine up through 3rd gear, then I can't hear it anymore because of the wind... It shifts very smooth though, but just likes to whine. Hasn't gotten any worse. I guess it is normal.

since i got my agency exhaust and the whine from the tranny added to it sounds exactly like a supra spooling its turbo. no exageration. if i closed my eyes i would think i was driving my supra again. that whine is loud in first.

Mines does whine and I also had the same question. It whines whenever I'm staying steady in between 2 - 2,500 rpms on 1st,and 2nd Pretty much if I'm going pretty slow or going up hill, sounds like a jumbo jet engine lol

it could be your intake - I have an 06 13k; 1st 2nd 3rd all around 3600rpm and I notice a high pitch whine - sounds like its just air ripping throught the intake. My tranny is really smooth and isn't grinding at all, so I doubt its anything serious

6k miles on my 07 mt touring, noticed a whine from the tranny doing a road trip over the weekend. probably normal

realized when i got back from trip that it does it all the time

and it doesnt do it in neutral (i think)....

have to do some more investigating

i think heat might be a factor, like a lot of other noises that comes from the clutch

When I start my 07 in the morning, or any other time after it cools down a bit, I hear a high pitch noise coming from the back somewhere. Is this normal? I am not even in gear, just sitting in neutral. It is not a loud loud whine, but it sounds as if your ears are ringing. Car only has like 400mi on it.

Most likely it's the fuel pump priming.
