Default My 03' now has an 07' Tranny

Well like I said bout a week ago ...

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/254508-getting-my-tranny-replace-d.html

BUT!

I have a few problems/questions and I want to see if anyone can help?

1.Ok well my red line on the old tranny 03' was 6,500. Does this mean that my redline is now at 7,500? Since I have the complete 07' tranny??

2. When I roll on first gear after 2,500rpm it makes a noise like it's pulling kind of hard , the rest of the gears are fine. Is that because the tranny is brand new???

Please help,

Thanks

1) no, redline is determined (among other things) by how well the engine flywheel, crank, etc are balanced, the amount of reciprocating mass, valve spring strength, intake/ exhaust flow, etc... the tranny will not affect redline.

2) it should be fine, let it break in before hammering it. it should still be under warranty anyway.

PS. Yeah, I'm a girl who just happens to nip out over this ****... :-)

No , it kind of sounds like one of those big trailers taking off ( 1st gear only ) you know how they sound like they're trying so hard to pull all the weight - Which is normal for a huge trailer but I'm wondeing why my Z is makin that noise

It's normal. Try reving up a little more when you start to take your foot off the clutch. Mine does it when creeping into gear in stop and go traffic. Almost sounds like an exhaust brake that big rigs to slow down when they go down hill. At least that's what i always think of.

I'm pretty sure all dealers now are replacing with the 009s.

Thats not an 07' tranny then, that was a late 05', early 06' tranny. REason I ask is because I had an 008, and put in a 009, and the rear support bracket was different, and it really took a while for the tranny to loosen up on me, was very notchy at first, contrary to what most say about it.

Not that I know of, 009 was the last revision. I havent had a chance to check a spec sheet on the 07's gear ratios, but Ive read they may be tighter to account for the 07's higher redline.

Ok now 2nd day with all this new parts and I've also noticed this,

My Oil PSI sits at around 60 , but when I used to floor the Z it used to go up to 120.

Now when I floor it, it only goes up to like 65 but seems that it runs a bit quicker with all the new parts, but why is it not showing any increase in the Oil PSI gauge??

Hmmmm, oil pressure sending unit maybe?? If so, it's a cheap part and easy to replace.
