Default High idle at startup, whoa!

New '07 with 660 miles.
Does anyone else experience excessively high rpm's during engine startup (from cold)?
My idle for the first 1-2 minutes is above 2100rpm. Also, the initial start throws the needle past 2300, 2400 rpm. After the first minute or so it comes back down fairly quickly, but initially it seems too high. Almost all my other cars do this, but none to this extent.
Is this normal for the Z?

I've got an '07 with about 350 miles on it (dam that break in period) and have noticed the same thing. It does almost exactly what you're describing. I noticed that when you push the clutch in and let it out it also drops about 75rpm almost immediately. I generally let it drop down all the way before starting to drive.

I hope this is normal, don't want to have to go back to the dealership, they were less than splendid.

You should see how a Lexus starts up - goes to 3k until it settles down at 1k.

It's perfectly normal. The idle control does that to warm up the motor for a bit then lower the idle. You can sleep better at nights now. lol

True. My Tacoma, WRX and A3 all do the same thing, but the Z wins for highest rpm

Mine does the same thing. AC will kick it up too. It dies down relatively quickly so it never freaked me out, now the oil pressure increase after my first oil changed did, but I'm told not to worry.

LMAO

Imagine they had a contest like that. The winner would have to be a McLaren F1 GTR cuz it would sound the sweetest.
