Default brake in period...

I just got my enthusiast. what a wonderful machine...
the dealer told me to keep it under 3000rpm/70mph for the 1st 100 miles. the manual says 4000rpm for 1200 miles...
Any recommendation?

thanks

Certainly follow the manual on 4000/1200 but holding it under 3000 RPM for first 100 isn't all bad.

that probably makes sense the first hundred miles since alot of the break in initially occurs there but mainly just hold to the manuals recommendation of 1200 treat it like a baby and it will give you alot back in the long run.

i waited till about 850 and did a variable break in, pulled the rpms up more and more daily and every 100 miles after that, so the engine wouldnt go into shock when i suddenly belted the throttle. If you give it a few good runs going into that 1,000th mile you will seat the "rings" better people have said. I've done variable break in's with two high power producing engines and have seen great numbers in horsepower. This and my 2001 Lightning.
