2007 350z Clutch Problem
Hi Everyone,
A few months ago I purchased a new 2007 350z Roadster
. I completely love the car (engine is just smooth and the car feels like it wants to go)! I have taken good care of the car and haven't abused it as I know it could be; no racing or really pushing the car.
I seem to notice something in the clutch that just doesn't seem right to me
. I come from driving a 325is BMW. In my BMW, I could just rev the engine to about 4000rpm at a stop light and let the clutch out and it would catch, the rear tires would spin where I then could accelerate through. However on my new 2007 350z while at a stop light and then revving to about 4,500rpm and letting the clutch out, the clutch doesn't grab. Instead, it almost feels like the clutch peddle is getting sucked into the floor where I then smell the clutch smell from the car and have to let the engine rev down before the clutch finally engages. If I wanted to spin the back wheels, I couldn't rev the engine and allow the clutch to grab for it to spin the back wheels
. On my BWM, the clutch would immediately grab, and I would feel the car launch forward
.
In my attempt to make a left turn while cars are coming from the opposite direction, I would be stopped, rev the engine a descent amount, and then when the intersection is clear, let the clutch out where my 350z clutch just slips. And when I give it more engine rev while the clutch is out it's as if I can almost feel the clutch peddle get sucked into the floor. When the clutch gets hotter and more slippery, the revs on the engine go even higher (without me pushing harder on the peddle) where the clutch becomes less likely to engage. The only thing I can do is left off the gas until the clutch finally engages and the give it more gas.
For all I know, this just could be just how the car is and is supposed to be (hence why I'm asking)
? It's starting to frustrate me more and more as I find this to make the driving experience in the car disappointing during periods when the car is stopped and want to quickly accelerate
. Once the car is moving it feels great and is wonderful.
Two things:
1) What is your input on this? A problem? Not a problem?
2) If it is a problem, what should be my steps as a car owner to get this remedied?
Thanks!
Jason

I would say it's a big problem and a safety issue big time. Still waiting until somebody gets killed because their clutch stuck to the floor and couldnt get out of the way of the 18 wheeler running the red light.
My 06 does it and some say it mostly sticks when the clutch fluid gets too hot but mine does it when it's totaly cold too.
I just simply changed by driving habits a tad to accomodate the pos clutch. It mostly only does it if I'm driving the car the wrong way, like trying to dump the clutch, slip it, feather it, ride it etc..
I think that a aftermarket briaded stainelss clutch line might help the problem but not sure.
