Default Stock Z Needs Clutch - Stock Clutch Assy OK?

Been lurking here for a few weeks since I bought an 04 Z with 56k Miles. Fun damn car!! and a great resource this place is!!

I did a search on the forum about my issue but noticed that most clutch discussions were with Z's pushin' significantly more HP that my stocker (450+ wow!).

I need a new clutch for my stock '04 Z. Is it OK just to replace it with stock OEM parts or would life be that much better with a JWT or ACT assembly?

Also - can any old shop (with a good reputation) do the work or does it have to go to a Z specialist for a clutch R&R?

The dealer wants $2,200 parts and labor so it won't be going in there!

TIA for all your input!!!

any shop can put it in...you can go with stock or upgrade to the nismo to keep a stock feel but a stronger clutch

Thanks for your coments!

I don't want to put in a clutch that:
1) Is overkill (since my engine will not get more than a perf chip and intake/exhaust mods)
2) Reduces general street driveability, or
3) Reduces clutch life.

But I do want a good set up b/c I like to drive hard sometimes.

Nismo
RPS Sport Street Clutch
JWT
ACT

Hmmmmmm .... I'll figure it out ...

JWT combo all the way. It'll actually cost you less than buying stock clutch and flywheel assembly.
Plus, the stock clutch and flywheel are crap anyway...I can't stand it.

my car has 30K and i need a new clutch too. The dealer is charging the same (2200). My clutch kept getting stuck half way down. i heard the jwt clutch is just a modified stock clutch. but the jwt flywheel is great. i'm thinking of either the jwt flywheel with nismo clutch or nismo everything.

If you are not going to be doing any enthusiast sort of driving no need for a aftermarket replacement.

Oh btw, I'm selling my OEM clutch flywheel if you're interested. Let me know.
