Default Built VQ or RB26

I'm new here so i dont know if this issue has been discussed, but i'm thinking of putting a RB26 in my 03 Z. Or should i just build the VQ? If anyone has done this please let me know.

Its been discussed before. An RB26 swap, although pretty cool, isnt as simple as that. I wouldnt really consider it myself. Unless I got a smokin' deal on the swap, and found a good driveshaft shop of sorts.

build the VQ....

if not, go with an American V8 swap if you realyl want to go crazy....race block, huge heads, etc!!!

It depends what you want. Both engines are capable of 1000hp. tThe rb26 will have a nice smooth powerband and rev high while a VQ will have an assload of early torque and lowend power. the VQ can be mde to rev high but doesn't always make power up top. I guess it all depends on what you feel like doing. It might be a little cheaper to just build a VQ...

VQ > RB

Stock vs stock obviously the RB is better for boost, but a built VQ has a much better powerband.

build the VQ. It will be cheaper in the end and it will be lighter.

Here we go again. Do a search and decide for yourself. For and RB swap you need:
1. An RB in Good condition
2. An RB35 Tranny in Good Condition
3. Someone who knows electrical sh*t and an AEM EMS at the least
4. Motor Mounts and various other parts from JE Imports
5. A lot of money for mods, b/c they come with 286hp stock
6. Patience b/c it will take a long time and waiting for stock parts to come here from Japan would be a pain in the *ss too.
7. There's more but hey it's your decision. I think we should get a sticky with a link to the previous threads of RB vs. VQ so we don't get this question anymore.

RB's are for skylines, i think it should be kept that way. The VQ will produce more torque than the RB.

Obviously the majority of this forum is gonna say VQ even though it isn't true in terms of max power and reliability but whatever, put two mice in there and call it a day.

On a stock VQ you'd be right but on a VQ that was built including sleeves and a closed deck, the VQ would kick the RB's a$$. The sheer displacement would gaurantee that plus there woul be better torque. The RB is kinda peeky.
