Default What does brake boosting/loading physically do TO the 5AT?

Just wondering what physically occurs inside the transmission/rear end when you hold the break down on an automatic and get the rpm's up to like 3000 so the boost comes in at about 4 psi when you launch. How detremental is this to the AT? is it something thats ok to do every once in a while at the drag strip to put down a good time?

Mods I posted this thread a second time because i left the TO out of the title in the first one and i could see where it might get misconstrued as something totally different

Hmm, if its in D and you have the brake and gas down... I think it would just be the torque converter spinning around internally.

The 5AT is speced to last 100,000 NORMAL shift cycles. Whether this abnormal abusive launch halves the life or worse is theoretical.

You will know sometime in future when you pay $4,000+ to replace tranny.

Measure the outflow ATF temperature from TC to heat exchanger that will give you insight.
