Default Need help with a decision.

I am thinking about buying some under-drive pulleys. Installing them in too much of a task for me to do and I know a guy who does a lot of car work and has an amazing 300zx that has over 600hp. Anyway, he says that you need a special tool to install them and he gave me the phone number of a guy who does his Nissan work. I called this guy Nord and he is really nice, but he says he's never done installed under-drive pulleys before. My question is, should I let him install mine? Is the installation idoit proof or is there a risk he could tear something up on my car?

You can do it yourself the only special tool you might need is a Harmonic balancer puller, you can rent one from auto zone. But you will have a very fun time breaking that crank bolt loose. They are UBER tight.

I can do things with my car, but when it comes to the engine, I'm a noob and I don't want to hurt anything, that's why I'd rather have someone else do it. Anyone have lots of noise at cold start with these things?

I used a 4ft long breaker bar and got it loose with one hand

Or you could go with the old method of cranking the engine for a sec with a long wrench installed touching the floor (which I would never do, sounds like an accident waiting to happen to me).

A 3? Maybe......its quite easy, just takes a big breaker bar, and some upper body strength

I Helped a friend do his in an afternoon. We used a heavy socket/wrench and used the jack handle as the breaker bar. Not much to it, basically remove old and bolt up the new. And remember if you pay some one to do it you will never learn anything. Get in, get dirty and install it yourself.

Cheers

Kevin

I don't mind doing it at all, I'm just worried about screwing something up. I get anxious if something is wrong with my car.
