very amusing.

but back to the question. I think you should go with a TT set up. 15k is a perfect amount to spend on it right. Don't try to worry about sound too much. And also, i hope you have a house and all the good stuff before you dump this kind of money in this car.

That S2K sounds ghey. I would never do that even on a Honda. Do the turbo and dont look back.

it'll be *really* hard to get a built engine in that price, once you factor in labor and other necessities like gauges, exhaust, etc. You could go for a stroker or go FI, but not both with that budget. For built engine+FI, 25k is more reasonable if you don't have a UTEC, exhaust, tp or hfcs already in hand.

To get the high pitched exhaust you're going to have to do something custom. Find a good exhaust shop and they'll have to play with various mufflers and resonators. The physical design (dimensions) of a muffler determines which frequencies get cancelled out, so there is some design work you could try to work out ahead of time if you can find a muffler designer (rather than just experimenting).

15,000 is plenty to do greddy twins right. You wont get an insane exhaust note, but you will get that 4-5 sec 0-60.

if you want the high pitched N/A high RPM sounds. guess what? you cant go turbo

Just build up aN/a Z using some top end JDM parts from Amuse and Tomei, ecu, headers, test pipes, exhaust, Top Secret ITB set up, cams. try to get a 9k redline amd be done with it.

I'm just asking for suggestions on how to go about getting more power without losing that sound that sends chills up my spine.

LOL. If you want that sound then a TD is not for you. The best way to do this is to no NA (with cams and a increased rev limiter of course) and a single exhaust.

Yeah, I really like the Amuse Ti. It sounds really exotic to me. I don't know why everyone seems to think I said I liked the Borla TD sound, when I said this:

I HATE the way turbo VQs usually sound (the BORLA TRUE DUAL SOUND).
That means I don't like the Borla TD sound... lol
Wired, thank you for posting that! I am dead serious and that just made me decide to go with Forged.

hahahah NO! lol thanks for the suggestion though.

I just spent a while on the phone with Sharif at Forged, and I'm going to go with the Greddy Twins. A screaming NA note is nice, but SO expensive for the little power I'd get. Everyone here knows that already but I'm just telling you I understand that too, and it's even more expensive than I thought.

So, I'm putting the budget towards everything I'll need to get the most out of the twins on the stock block. They're going to trailer the car down to the shop and then when it's done being tested, they'll trailer it back to my house. Now that delivery day is going to be one of the most exciting days of my life.

Thank you for the tip - I have seen prices from other shops as well, but I'm going with Forged because of their reputation for reliable tuning.

don't want to sound like I am bad mouthing sharif, but PLEASE don't take this, or any other forum, as the end all be all. What is posted here is to gain general knowledge. There are a lot of good shops around that do not engage in forum activity. Your posts make me think you have the money, but not the knowledge to make an informed purchase at this point.

Sharif is a good resource, but please explore others. In the end, they may just reinforce that Sharif is the best. Myself included have at times relied on forum info too heavily...and at other times not enough. IMO, explore local avenues and at least pick their brains a bit. In the end, it will only help.

edit: how have you come to the conclusion they are reliable? Have you seen his maps? Driven/rode in a car they setup? Compared his tuning techniques to other Z tuners around? Have you talked to other shops in reference to tuning your car? I am willing to guess you read a couple threads and looked at dyno sheets and said, awesome, he is reliable. this is not to bad mouth sharif, just to show a point. Like I said, further research may just reinforce the original thoughts

You make several valid points, Zivman. I appreciate your effort to help me make the right choice. You're correct - I recall reading quite a few threads by happy customers of Forged, and people saying "you'd be better off going to them" etc for various reasons.

That was a while ago before I considered FI as a viable option.

I admit I am not too knowledgeble on the subject. All my time is dedicated to training in the gym or working on my network of websites, so I haven't studied up much on FI tuning techniques. I don't know how to read a map, so I don't make conclusions based off of them. I look at numbers and think, "that's a lot.. i hope they can get that on my car under reliable operation." I mainly have been swayed towards Forged by testimonials from various threads.

I have also read about GTM and they seem to be on top of things, but I figured I should try to work with the shop closest to me.

What other shops would you recommend checking out? Thanks!
