Bulid that motor first worry about turbo later. If I could do it all over again I would do it that way.

When I hear a Pagani Zonda F, I smell and taste certain things (to an extent) and images come to mind, and I feel REALLY good. I think my mind really likes 5ths... I read about other people who have this and from what I remember, it's called synesthesia.
Finally someone else that thinks of exhaust tones/pitches/harmonics in terms of notes and intervals!! No one else knows WTF I'm talking about except for my brother. We both have pretty good musical backgrounds.

The GT3 motor seems to have the same harmonics as certain japanese Inline-6's For reference, here's a rally GT3:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_INokDFvdAc. And here's a GT3 cup car on a dyno: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_Pu3d-G05U According to your notation it would be 1 + 1 octave up major 5th, amirite? You can hear the same harmonics clearly here when the skyline takes off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUSmxJAKBYY The 2JZ from the supra as well. I've never heard a V6 possess those harmonics.

As for the 350Z, the octave lower tone that comes with most turbo kits has to do with unequal length piping between the exhaust ports and where the pulses from each bank collect.

Yes! Good to meet you man. Most people on here just make sarcastic statements to me because they don't know the difference between an s2000 at 7k and a 350z at 7k in terms of sound... that's why they always tell me to go buy a honda, i guess.

I agree with your notation of the GT3 and 2JZ/RB20 sounds being 1 + 1 octave up major 5th. Ahh such a good sound. Reminds me of my dream car, the Zonda F.

Here's a 350z with a similar sound... I would say it's 1 + major 5th.

Is it possible to create a custom exhaust system for the turbo Z that would have equal length piping to preserve this screaming note?

Thanks,

Ian

That was a while ago before I considered FI as a viable option.

I admit I am not too knowledgeble on the subject. All my time is dedicated to training in the gym or working on my network of websites, so I haven't studied up much on FI tuning techniques. I don't know how to read a map, so I don't make conclusions based off of them. I look at numbers and think, "that's a lot.. i hope they can get that on my car under reliable operation." I mainly have been swayed towards Forged by testimonials from various threads.

I have also read about GTM and they seem to be on top of things, but I figured I should try to work with the shop closest to me.

What other shops would you recommend checking out? Thanks!
As long as Sharif is running the show at ForgedPerformance, you'll be well taken care of. I researched for over a year before I decided to drop my hard earned savings into a shop. You are not too far from me - Sharif is your man. He and his crew will take care of you. It's not just reliable tuning; it's being detail oriented, looking to make each car perfect, that sets the top shops apart from the rest. The customer service is also top notch. Bad things can happen due to bad luck. A few shops will stand behind their work and ForgedPerformance is one of them.

EDIT: I see you asked about what other shops? From my research the following have a long history of great customer service: GTM in Ca., MRC in the northeast, Performance Factory in FL., Relentless Autosports in Ca., UpRev in TX?, probably missing a few others... all good choices
