It's not a safety/critical issue at all. It's more of an annoyance and knowing its there.

Just take your wheels off and the cotter pins on the axles and tighten up your axle lugs for a temporary fix. When you get time, get some molykote grease, take your axle loose from the hub and from the diff, slip it down and out and just grease the face. Its quick and easy

I just went through this.
If you still have you drive train warranty left and you should.
Bring the TSB with you and show them.
They did mine for free and I have an '03.
They in stalled 6 bolts and nuts and relubed.

sounds like it. Roll both windows down, or have someone stand out, and try to pinpoint the noise. If its coming from the rear, thats prolly what it is. For me it was passenger side rear.

blah, ok im a tech at nissan. I said for a TEMPORARY fix tighten them up, and yes that would be using a impact gun and absolutely hammering on the nuts.

350Z's are not the only cars that do this, Quest's, Murano's, and even some of the new 07 sentra's do it as well. I dont know why nissan has this problem with there axles but all you have to do is get some molykote grease, and pull the axle out of the hub, and grease the face of it where it mates to the hub and reinstall and tighten down.

Im not sure where you can get the grease as far as auto stores. I would suppose you could go to advance or pep boys. The Molykote grease that I use is a made by nissan product so if worse comes to worse you can go to the dealer and buy a can of it, however that can I think is like 70 dollars.

How would tightening up the axle lug nuts stop the axle from clicking (even temporarily)?

This clicking along with my suspension creaking is really driving me nuts. Tried to love it but failed

I'm taking my Z in to dealership on tuesday for the clicking noise and I just smoked a skunk carcuss this morning. I'm gonna make those ****** suffer!!

Washed undercarriage 3X today, smell is slowly going away. I think I'll wait till wed to wash it again
