Default question after 3.5 FD swap

I swapped my 5AT 3.3 rear with a 6MT 3.5 fd. I noticed the other day that when I'm in 2nd, it redlines before it hits 60mph, is this correct because I remember that it used to be a tad over 60mph at the end of 2nd.

that's how it works. haven't you noticed the quicker acceleration. Now you go through every gear faster making your car go faster.

going with shorter gearing means each gear doesn't go as fast as it used to, but accelleration and gear torque increases

That is correct. With the shorter gears you may also lose cruise control because the ECU doen't recognize what speed you are going. My car my have cruise one day and not have it the next day. Also your car will rev higher at any given speed comared to before with longer gears. For example I noticed my RPMs went from 2900 to 3100 at 80mph.

Goes good with a vortech S/C. I did that swap with my car and makes a hella difference. Bad side car consumes a lot of gas

Did you even know what this mod does before you installed it?

Get a reflash and raise your redline. I assume you have the non-rev-up. I did it and now redline at 7100rpm and can hit 60 in 2nd.

He likely has taller rear tires, who cares about 1-2mph difference, you could be revving to 6500, he could be hitting limiter. This is silly...

Agree, it is silly. With the same gearing, a vehicle will top out the same in each gear as a similarly geared car.

Caught one of the vette owners in my club bs'ing this exact same thing. After installing headers & intake, he told me he got his '03 ZO6 to 185mph. Impossible with the stock gearing he has. ~171 is max.
