My car is home, after the dealer and Nissan worked to correct the clutch pedal issue.

I just took it for a test spin and you're exactly right VitViper. When launching from at least 2,500 rpm, it will stick a lot. In fact, I turned around and came home, the whole thing got so floppy.

Thanks.

Mine's at Nissan right now as well, but all they're doing is replacing the clutch pedal itself. I should be getting the car back today, but I told them if it happens again I'll be back right away. So you're saying I need to let them know to replace the clutch slave cylinder with a revised one?

You got it. You're also in the Arizona heat... it'll happen again fast.

Took it again in this morning. The car would barely go into gear, even without revving it up from launch. They said right away, "oh, yeah, the pedal sticks."

No sh*t.

Sadly, it stuck so bad this morning I have a feeling this will be more than just the slave cylinder.

I'm getting a new slave cylinder (so far) at the Lynnwood dealer. My first time there.

I've had good experience with the Fife dealership, bought the car there and had work done on my previous Z there. Good folks. Never been to the Puyallup one.

i don't know how long its been since you've been to the fife dealer, but i had my tranny replaced there and everybody in the service department (other than the lady that taxi'd me to and from work while my car was there) were some of the rudest people i've ever come across. everybody talked down to me like i don't know a single thing about cars and they just assumed that i abused my car just cause i'm young. as if the 5th gear syncro is gonna go out from abuse

sorry had to vent

thanks for the info

Goes to show, dealer experiences can vary widely. I think any service person will look at you badly if you have tranny problems on a new car. They assume it's your bad driving.

I drove older Zs and the clutch grabbed much better. Hell my maxima's clutch grabbed better than this!!

By the way veetec did your slipping clutch let you to to burnouts or would it drop to the floor?
I could do a small burn out, if I dropped it quickly. That alone was enough to cause the pedal to drop on occasion though.

Forget slipping the clutch, while trying to launch hard though. I had to launch with a max of 3K rpms.

my dealer has 2 parts on order for my car: the throwout bearing and some pivot joint thing. are those the right parts to fix the problem? they also said that one of the parts were on backorder. how long did you guys have to wait till you got your car back?

Funny thing: I told my dealer that the problem was in the slave cylinder and they assured me that their mechanic determined it to be in the clutch pedal. I just got a call from the service manager apologizing to me and telling me that I was right - they replaced the clutch pedal, bled it twice and it was still sticking. The good thing is they decided to give me a rental now, so I don't have to drive my roommate's POS Kia. The bad thing is I have to wait to get my car back even longer now... Hopefully they'll sort this mess out soon.

In my case, the dealership replaced the flywheel and some other miscillanious parts..I haven't had any more issues since.

Hmmm my issue is a lil different. Its an 04.5 its not dropping when launching it drops overnight while she sleeps. Every morning wake up to a clutch that is way lower then it should be. Start driving and she starts to rise lil by lil. Good for the rest of the day until she sleeps again.

Brought her to the dealer assuming it was the slave cylinder. They bleed and tested the system and stated that both cylinders were fine however they did leave the car overnight and found what I told them (DUH). They bleed the system again to check for air and pressure. All seems fine. They came to the conclusion that my pressure plate is bad. Wont be covered under warranty

Thoughts?
