Oil Pressure,Temp./Drivetrain Loss
A few questions here:
1.) What oil pressure are you guys getting cold and hot?
2.) Anyone that has installed an oil temp guage: How long till your oil is fully heated after cold start? Is it quicker or slower than the radiator core to reach operating temp?
3.) Does anyone know if our connecting rods/crank shaft have "oil slappers" that scoop and throw oil for cooling purposes? Are these more efficient than oil sprayers? If not more efficient, I wonder if they could be shaved and replaced with sprayers for better efficiency....
Thanks,
Jeff

I'll let you know about the oil temp in a couple of days, I installed an autometer guage but didn't want to drill into my oil pan so I am in search of T fittings to tap into the oil cooler... Hopefully it will be hooked up soon....

The temp sensor (sending unit) can also be installed in the oil drain plug. Typical sending unit thread pitch is 10mmx1.0 or 1/8"-27NPT. Find out for sure though, because they vary from gauge mfg. Pick up a new drain plug from a parts supply house or from the dealer and use a drillpress for accuracy in drilling straight through. Thread the hole for the sending unit, install the sender on to the plug and it's done.

I don't think it would work on the Z. I had my car on the lift last night when I installed my pulley and our drain plug is really small. I would want a little more than a 1/16th of an inch around the sender. Also, you would have to take it apart everytime you change the oil.....

That plug there is the smallest and it comes off fine everytime. The sender stays on once it's put on, it doesn't have to come off for an oil change. It's nothing new, there are companies that sell or provide them with their gauges, like Blitz, HKS, Greddy, etc. Then there are those special cases where you need to make your own.
