Default Best Bang for the Buck???

I have some money to spend and I'd like some input on what to buy.

Please keep in mind that I do all my own installation

Some input on why you voted the way you did would be nice. Thanks

3.90? i think u mean 3.9fd or 3.917, i think the central 20 3.9's are a better bang for buck thank 350evo, but if you do your own installations i wouldnt go that route since u install everything bc i hear there is a fine line installing gears right.

3.90? Isn't the 350Z 3.53 or something? Really worth doing that swap for a fairly small change? Not like you are going to 4.10s or something.

I said the gears since the question is posed as "bang for the buck". You can spend a lot less and feel a lot more changing the fd out.

Just stop light to stop light.

I think I, like most others that post polls, have already made up our minds, we just want justification.

With that said, I'm already leaning towards gears. I do mainly street driving and I never use my cruise.

I already have a Z tube, Crawford Plenum, and Crawford HFC. I think finishing up the bolt on stuff plus an ECM flash would lay the ground work for maybe a future S/C. BTW I have a G35 Coupe.

I am a professional mechanic so tools, equipment and know how are not a problem. I can do gears and I can do headers.

You'll probably be able to notice the 3.9finaldrive more than a full exhaust.

bang for the buck power wise, the 3.9 gears... bout 10% more power in every useable rpm... if you're big into the sound and rumble and need something loud, than go with the exhaust.

a set of steep gears is a killer NA mod for a car like this.

I had a similar experience with a NA Mustang Cobra (4.6 32V). put 4.10s in the rear, and it was awesome.

Okay good, then I'm glad I chose Gears for your poll. They def. make stoplight to stoplight more "fun" IMO. I'm not familiar enough with the G/Z cars to say what a good combo of gears and F/I is. but I can say that a 3.9 SHOULD be fine. The trick you run into is making sure the gears don't make each gear in the transmission too short. w/ F/I...or make 1st gear just a tire smoke gear. this can be an issue with Mazdaspeed miata's, that's the only reason I bring it up. I'm sure others on this forum could enlighten on how much this applies here. again I'd bet 3.9 would be fine, but no experience w/ it.
