bad: underdrives your ac. Requires non oem size belts. May cause harmonic issues. Not too compatible with a sc. May screw up key way or crank seal.

good: shifts powerband a little. rev faster.

Unorthodox Racing produces also a stock sized, thus you get the reduced weight benefits, without the disadvantages.

i highly suggest the UR standard sized pulley. you get 95% of the gains for the weight reduction so getting the under driven version just isn't worth it.

I live in Tennessee and I have the UR underdrive crank pulley. My air works just fine in the summer heat here and so far I have yet to experience any problems.

that's assuming you've got an underdriven one

there is no way it can screw up the key way or crank seal unless its poorly made or put on with reckless abandon (ie BFH method)

As for the harmonic issues...let's not get started on this again

I put the underdrive UR set on this summer. No issues with the A/C or my custom audio which has 2 separate amps.

hence why I posted what I posted

if its a properly made and engineered piece, installed by someone familiar with installing such a part (it's very easy), you will now have any problems

I had the UR underdriven pulley on my car since it came out in 2003 - never any issues with the heat, or with my stereo (I have a system). Put around 45k miles on my original motor before yanking it out for the built one I have now...which also uses a UR underdrive crank pulley

Got one on my Frontier. No issues. It's underdriven by 12%. Definitley a worthwhile mod that you can feel.

which of your 4-5 options on your site would be a good selection for a revup motor that wants to be road raced??

the only pulley we sell for a Z is Unorthodox

The difference between underdriven and non underdriven is negliable - it's all user preference. Same goes for the difference between the full pulley set and the crank pulley alone. All user preference at that point.

The primary gains come from weight reduction on the crank pulley

Are the gains with the standard size UR pulley noticable?

^ Try their website. Always a good place to start. Then look at some vendors here, even better prices!

Unorthodox is the way to go!

Their quality is top notch (not saying others aren't), they offer a number of options crank pullies which can be definable by function or cost in the end such as what series pulley you go with.

While I would suggest that you go through a supplier like Z1, dealing with Unorthodox personally is also a good route if you can. Shawn B gives top notch customer service an UR.

I would personally go with the stock diameter light weight version for crank pullies and do accessories if you want them for looks. The main gains, as stated by others, will be in the weight savings and the underdrving is negligible.
