Labor hours for mods
I appreciate your honesty. I had been reading that lately.
Some shops have an exhaust/headers package for ~1400. I know with headers most often you have to pull the engine which kills you on labor for unsubstantiated gains.
I'm trying to keep my spending/power ratio as low as possible and still keep it NA or at least not make NA mods that i'll have to reverse if i want to go FI etc.
I guess that leaves me with exhaust/manifold/popcharger/cams/pulleys/NO2 sprayer/??/??/??
thanks agains Viz and Q45

Exhausts usually take 1.5 hrs, depending on which one, and if relocation of the EVAP can is required.
Headers and exhaust = atleast 6-10 hours
cams - not sure, i would think atleast another 6 hours
manifold - 2 hours
Headers aren't worth it, you usually dont have to pull the engine (except maybe with crawford) but you have to tilt it slightly by unhooking some motor mounts. Also had to unhook my front control arms for more breathing room. 3-5 extensions later and you can reach up to the bolts. PITA, not worth it $/HP.

for all of that money(90% of it labor) and the gain is not worth it.
125 (used headers)
640 (install)
5 hp gain
Intake manifold - 2 hours if your first time.
Borla TD - It comes in a bunch of pieces for 1.5 - 2 hours
Headers - Took me 12 hours on jack stands taking my time
Cams - I would say in between 12 and 20 hours

Exhaust = 1 hour with all tools at your side and a good night's rest
headers = ATLEAST 4 hours working nonstop.
Honestly... headers do almost nothing. NOT worth the time/losing carb etc

thanks again guys... I just bought a popcharger and i'm thinking JWT s7 cams, Borla TD exhaust, and Cosworth manifold
anyone have a guesstimate for hp gains...i'm figuring approx 50whp with a good tune if not a little more...that works out to approx $100/hp if it takes:
cams @~12hrs
borla td @~2hrs
manifold @~2hrs
