How abt cams for built bottom ends? What brands, duration, lifts would be able to compliment it?

I'm looking at mid to top end gains with a decent idle and maybe a slight lope at worse. Thanks.

z1, what would you recommend for a 06 rev-up for cams and springs? DC headers, titek test pipes, and greddy evo2 TT exhaust, skunk 2 plenum spacer, and Jim Wolf intake. Using Utec. im lookin for pure top end without losing bottom end response if possible, and the furthest i can take the redline with the stock bottom end. Not sure if there is another forum for this. sorry for the bother. Pm me if thats cool too.

what extra tools does it take to put in cams.

i was watching a vid of a evo8 cam swap,
and the 4g63, needed a tensioner to hold the cams in place.

do we need any kind of special tool if we want to put in our own cams one day

so I've been thinking of cams and headers for a year or so (other projects have held me up)... I did research previously - but havent given it much thought again until recently...

I was intending on using Crawford headers and JWT S2 (or maybe S1) cams... but I don’t see much of that being mentioned. Experienced - please advise. BTW, I have Osiris and will re-tune accordingly.

I have Crawford headers and high flow cats. I have a RevUp and the S1 and S2 cams are not available for me, so I haven't paid much attention to them... Sorry.

There isn't much interest in NA engines on these forums because the turbo engines are so much more profitable for the builders.

You might want to call up JWT and talk to them about their different camshafts. You might be surprised at who you end up talking to.

yeah, its probably a better question for the NA Build section... but since this thread was specific to cams I thought I'd ask...

I won't use utec to tune a car with VVT, but that is just me.

Yes. They actually offer other RevUp cams too, but they aren't listed on their web site.

I probably worded my reply poorly. You asked about the S1 and S2 cams and since they aren't made for a RevUp, I haven't looked at them. That's all I meant.

Sorry I can't really make any recommendations as we don't have any revup cams. There is no such thing as a cam that is pure top end without any affect to the bottom end - it's always a balancing act

theres a lot that you wouldnt do that 99% of experienced VQ'ers would, like tune a car with VVT using utec. instead of spending the extra $4000 to get VVT control, get a UTEC and V-manage and be done.
