Absolutely correct. The engine has to be the same model (or manufactured) year as the vehicle in order to be legal.

Quick UPDATE!!!!

i am trying to find a way to convert the 7 pulse tach signal from the vette ecu to read right (the nissan ecu reads 6 pulses so the tach would be 17% off)

UP-REV may have the solution via reflash....

as soon as i get final word from them Hinson will get pricing up and I will get the car back....

there is detailed instructions on tach recalibration on grannysspeedshop for mazdas to gm engine,should be enough info in there to get the job done.

 

But the Z's tach gauge is fed thru the can bus system and cannot be calibrated via potentiometers if I recall correctly.

 

you should still be able to play with resistors regardless of bit encodeing.

then buy a gto or a vette. You could, which is being done on 2 G35's at this time swap in a Q45 V8 and twin turbo that. That would most definitely be sick to see in a Z.

Noah's car is one of a kind. I'm glad that it's inspirational to the others. Deep down you know you wish you have the cash, the creativity, and ***** to pull something like that.

 

I would take a LS2 powed Z over a Vetter or GTO anyday...price tag doesn't mean anything. I would much rather spend $70k+ building a Z like Noah's then to spend $50k+ on a domestic (plastic) car.
