Default Clutch Changed Feel?!?!

My clutch used to be very hard to drive, it was kinda short and hard. Today I was going up a very steep garage ramp when a dumb a** in a xterra dived down on me and I had to stop, after coming to a stop I tried to get going again without using the ebrake (I wasnt thinking) and the car just went backwards..... The clutch now feels soft, its actually possible to drive the car smooth now. My friends Touring 6mt feels almost the same, the clutch pedal goes down a little with the weight of my foot on it, it didnt do that before. Any suggestions on what might've happened?

03 performance 30K miles today, previous owner said he replaced the tranny, so its not as old.

so even after you completely released the clutch and gave the car gas....it still rolled downhill? if that is the case, sounds like you may have burned your clutch, the reason it feels so "soft" now if because it's not gripping nearly as hard as it should be, get it checked out/replaced before it goes completely and becomes a total pain in the ***.
