Default 5at shift shock

Does anyone else experience a shock in the 5at when shifting from neutral to drive. The shock is more noticeable when the transmission is hot. Engagement is smooth when transmission is cold.

i dont notice a shock, it does engage smooth unless your foot is on the brake enough to engage but wants to leap, especially when its cold and revving higher

I find a lot of people don't fully wait for the car to stop moving backwards when shifting into drive, or rolling out of a driveway. Then their trannys start acting up. Many people also tend to shift, then release the e-brake when on an incline. Stuff adds up on the wear and tear.

I only experience shift shock when it's cold. (30k on my original tranny)

Are you holding the brake for a second or two after shifting N to D? Try that.

Nissan service had a look and are still trying to understand the problem. They said that the valve body may need to be replaced - only 8600 miles and not abused.

Change your differential fluid. it cost $38 at any oil changing place. The diff fluild is what lubricates the axel and the driveshaft. I was noticing the same problem as you, along with slow/ slugish shifting. I just changed mine after 80k miles ( i never changed it). Now it excelerates and shift "smooth as butter"....... best $38 i have spent on the Z in a long time.
