Default CLUTCH slipping at 30k

Got on it tonight and from 2nd to 3rd it slipped. I did it twice and both times slipping. I have never had any clutch smell or anything and I've had the car since it had 9k mi. I have the 100k warranty will this be covered, I've heard that a clutch would be considered as a wear and tear part so it might not be covered.

This is my 4th manual so it's not a driver error. Maybe the person before me. I've never needed a clutch replacement before.

i didnt mean it that way, sometimes first time manual drivers dont realize that the clutch is a wear item that might last 5000 miles or 100,000 miles and arent ready for the financial ramifications if and when it goes.

I just drove it again and it's only slipping going into 3rd. I drove it hard and from 1st to 2nd it was fine and 3rd to 4th it was fine. I'm so f****** pissed that it's going out. Is it a bad install. I have only done transmission work on an old pickup truck guessin the z isn't gonna be a walk in the park like that was though. I'll do some searching on 3 5 0 z t e c h

Clutch and Flywheel replacement doesn't look too bad, but this might be the final straw that was holding the z on. I have been thinking about selling it for weeks, now I might.

As we always say cars [any used car] are offered for sale / sold when the owner gets a $3,000 estimate for need repairs.
Fortunately there is always a buyer who gets bedazzled by the looks and doesn't pay an expert to list the defects.

"Turbo XS Test Pipes'........careful "as is" doesn't protect you from a fraudulent sale/transfer of an emission tampered vehicle. Years later you can be hauled into civil court and made to pay to restore totally to oem emission compliance.

You never know in which state your used car will end up in future.

Quick question- you're saying "when going into third". Clutch slip happens *in gear* under acceleration.

Just wanted to make sure you're using the right term to describe what's happening, because it doesn't sound like it.

I put everything on my car, meaning it was completely stock when I bought it. Don't try to make me look like a fking idiot cause i'm not. I am completely aware of the emmisions but I live in MS so it doesn't really matter. I also mean when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd the fking clutch slips. It has never slipped before...

Thanks for your response that answered nothing and didn't help anyone help *you* solve *your* issue.

Calm down.

is it slipping in 5th or 6th under wot? thats what i have seen in a car that needed a clutch replacement. otherwise you could just have a glazed flywheel, and only time will fix it.

Yeah i was on the interstate today with one of my friends and he said the same thing. So I got on it from 4th to 5th and it was pretty bad. The thing is that it doesn't slip in 1st to 2nd why not? I'm just pssed cause this car is an 05' and clutch problems. I have a 81' dodge powerwagon that is under much more power than the z and it has never had clutch problems. Thats what is meant by JAPCRAP, i guess.

1st and 2nd are shorter gears that handle the torque from the engine better. It's the same principle as if you are on a ten-speed bike. In first gear it's easy to pedal. In 5th gear, it's harder. Since there's more resistance from the wheels you get the slip since it's the weakest link in the chain.

... and your clutch is burnt out most likely because of the previous owner, or because of you. Clutches don't burn out themselves, drivers do.

It might have just been a glazed flywheel, because tonight I got on it and it didn't slip. I didn't shift that fast though. I'm probably gonna upgrade anyway never hurts to get a lightweight flywheel and good clutch. This makes me feel better cause I depend on my z to get me back and forth from Mobile, AL to Ocean Springs, MS for school.

what are you talking about? It's because of your technique of driving, your extra mods, your street racing, and other dumb stuff you probably do to your z. It's all in the driver.

My friend went for 180k on his 2003 z before he changed out his clutch. And that's because he wanted to just be safe and it not dying out on him on his roadtrips.
