Default U-R polished pulleys installed

Well i had 8 voices in my head saying to install the pulleys, and one saying don't install the pulleys....i went with the majority.......and i'm happy i did.....the butt-dyno says "Hell yeah"......my voltage stays at about 13.9V......air conditioning works fine.......and after a little run at 125mph, i found the only increased vibration to exist at 6250 rpms and up........seeing as how i don't spend too much time in that range, i think i'm gonna be happy with this mod.......nice thing is, this is a show and go part.....here's a pic:

I used one belt that was shorter than what UR said to use......instead of the 040355, i used a 040350.....it was a PERFECT fit.....plenty of adjustment still.........here's a bad pic of my engine bay, keep in mind this pic doesn't do it justice:

if everything works out, i'll be at the track on Wednesday.....gotta have some stripped wheel studs changed first

Yeah, i went for the whole enchilada........if it were possible, and cost effective, i'd have all my pulleys be aluminum ones

Only changed the pulleys.....there was no seal visible.......the end of the crankshaft is flush with the block, so the neck of the new pulley seats into the block.....any seal thats in there is still firmly in place........my mechanic, Tony Klink, is a full-on gearhead, he wouldn't do anything half-assed.....he's a mechanic for Subaru, and owns a 1956 Volkswagon Beetle that runs 12's in the 1/4..... normally aspirated

Later on, we might know what's really goin' on with this.....the knock sensor may just be overly sensitive like in the Sentra's.....Sentra guys are relocating the sensor somehow.....it's too soon to tell just yet

I ordered the ur pulleys today because i dont believe that anything short of some serious hp adders (NOS FI) will affect the crank vibrations. What im wondering is how hard was the install? Did it require any special tools to do so? ANy tips you could give me to help my mechanic out when he is doing it?

Anti-seize is imperative......the pulleys are aluminum, and the crank is steel, so the tight fit demands it...........my guy used a chain wrench, a big ratchet, and breaker bars......this made it possible to do the install without pulling out the radiator, although the fan shroud did have to come out.......when using a chain wrench on the pulleys, he wrapped them with the original belt, to protect them from getting marred by the chain links.......the alternator had to be removed to install the pulley on it, since the stock and aluminum pulleys are both too small to get a decent grip on with the chain wrench while still attached to the motor.......my mechanic walked the original crank pulley off of the shaft with 2 flathead screwdrivers, for the impatient i would recommend a gear puller........and like i said before, we used a 040350 belt instead of the 040355 that U-R said to use.....the belt they suggested works, but it leaves no room for adjustment on the belt when it stretches

Okay, i honestly intended to not go to the track today, since i have some bad wheel studs.....but i couldn't resist

I didn't have that much time to spend there, 'cause i already had a previous commitment.......but i was able to make 2 runs....it was hella crowded

The best of the 2 was a 14.0 @ 100.5mph.......i know that doesn't sound that great, but that was with HELLA wheelspin, and 88-89 degrees outside.....that was such a crappy launch

I believe with a better launch it would have been a 13.8....... my usual runs have been about 14.1-14.3 in that kind of heat, but the 14 flat came pretty easy

here's what i've got so far:

Injen Intake (polished and black hoses)
pre-resonator removed
insaneamine ground kit
U-R underdrive pulleys
Slicks(ready to use now that my wheel studs are fixed)

Here's what in the works:

RS*R GT-II exhaust (told 2 weeks ship time)
A'pexi SAFC-II (getting operation manual translated at this time)

Napa Superstore had all the belts i needed for my pulleys.....any auto parts store should be able to cross-reference from the Gates numbers.......my belts are actually Napa belts

EJ,

Can You feel a difference? Does the car actually feel faster with the pulleys?
