I spent a lot of time searching the threads but didn't find anything that quite addressed a noise I've been hearing in my 350Z.

I've noticed that when clutching in at low, low speeds (when pulling into my tight parking space at home and when parking at work) there is occasionally a ton of noise. It's a metallic chatter-like sound.

For comparison's sake, it sounds like the noise you get when you're just catching the clutch to keep the car from stalling. Only difference is that I'm no where near stalling the car when I hit the clutch and the noise occurs. It doesn't happen every time.

I get a similar metallic noise from time to time when cruising over the speed humps in my complex at 10-12 mph.

Any ideas about what is going on or if I'm doing something wrong? The car is a 2007 Enthusiast and has about 1,300 miles on the clock. Thanks.

It's quite normal. If you do a search, you'll find threads on it.

I guess my searching skills need work. But I promise I spend upwards of an hour scoping out the threads. Thanks.

Is it a metal-to-metal type sound? I get that sound anytime I`m in 2nd and 4th gear (input shaft bearing?). Seems like Z32 and Z33 manual trannies make that same sound. What exactly would cause input shaft bearing noise and what would be the cure? Surely bearing noise isn`t a good thing, right?

My car never made this noise till after I took it in for service. I'm not convinced it's normal, it does it while sitting idle now.
