I doubt you are getting an HR motor....unless they are planning on doing a full ecu, harness, etc swap along with your motor.

You'll get the "revup" motor which is a VQ35DE with variable intake and exhaust cam timing, bigger cams, shorter-runner manifold, and stronger rod bolts.

lol.....ur not getting an HR dude. They're giving you an updated version of the DE with a "fix" on that oil issue. Would sure be nice though. My motor might be getting replaced at WCN aswell. Dropped it off yesterday and waiting on the news today.

Did you think you were going to get a new hood too?

Not checking the oil when the engine lets you know there is a problem and still getting a new engine is what I call dumb luck.

You are right though. It should not have happened. I'm glad you have a fair dealer.

1. you cannot install an HR motor to a DE equipped car without completely rewiring the car, new ecu, new harness, new clutch, new flywheel, new pullies, new gauge cluster, new hood - so no, you are absolutely not getting an 07 engine

2. given that, you're not being told correct info, or you're not listening carefully enough to the info being told to you

You won't get a HR unless you are paying for it. Nissan won't allow it and alos your hood would have to be replaced, ecu, wiring harnesses, are some of the things.

The next day it started turning off on me randomly, i was like WTF? i kept turning it back on and driving until it couldn't drive anymore i turned it on put it in first and a even louder and deeper noise came out, after that the Z wouldn't start, crank, or anything, so i called roadside and had it towed to nissan, where i find out the next day that my car had NO OIL!, (what a surprise?) and had to take out the engine piece by piece bcuz it was dat F***** up. So now for the good news it was their fault that my engine blew becuz i had all my oil changes done at the dealer and their is not a reason why the car should have stayed without oil. So now i am getting a brand new VQ35HR YAY!

If you drive an 06 make sure you check your oil constantly if u don't want to blow it.

I got a couple questions.
Do i buy parts or the 06 or 07 now?
The HR rev's higher right?Wont they have to swap out the Tach also?
Does the 07 have the oil consumption issue also?

you might be getting an '07 motor, but nissan makes the VQ35DE, VQ35DE Revup, and VQ35HR in '07. remember this motor goes in the Z, the G coupe, and th Gsedan......all in different configurations in '07. So, they are all '07 motors.

WOW!!! why are you people so harsh on carlos305? He may work at nissan, but it doesn't mean he is a 350z mechanic. I think we've all explained well enough that the HR isn't just a drop in replacement for his '06 Z. The guys was obvoisly excited because he thought he might be getting more powerful motor for free.

I am curious to hear what the service guys are telling now that he is questioning them about exactly which motor he will receive.
