Seeing these sorts of great results from the Borla really makes me wonder what's up with all the other exhausts. What is Borla doing that the other exhausts are not? On that note, are there any people here who've just taken the exhaust off and dyno'd the car with open pipes? What sort of gains were seen with that sort of a setup?

I'm also very anxious to see the resulting entire power curve from a dyno run with the Borla system. Webcarconnection, any idea when you might get that graph posted here? If it's going to be a while, can you give me an idea of how the curve changed? Did the power curve go up as a whole throughout the entire rpm range, or just near the peak power point?

I'm guessing 260 was with his resonater removal. This replaces that mod with a bit more. I'm guessing he'll dyno in the 270 range.

True 280rwhp at 3200lb should put us on par with the low-average running E46 M3. Driver skill would take the win. Not destroy tho.

 

ahh..you havent bee doing ur homework. chk his other posts he was taking them (m3s) before borla dule...hard to belief but for some reason i do...i think it's because he has a freak car.

that destroy comment was ment only for him. yeah...w/ 280rwhp should be even w/ m3s...but then again how many m3 owners push there cars very hard.

So 24 horsepower gain, eh? Welp, that seals it. Borla it is. Seems like they were true to their word.

 

The numbers sound good. But if you rate the power by TQ it falls in line with other systems. I have seen GL B&B and Stillen Dyno's that have 12 to 15 TQ gains. What is nice about this system is the sound and Price tag. I have got 15 TQ gains from my Stillen but at a cost of hundreds more than this system, and a few pounds of fat. If these gains are proven with a Dyno this exhaust is a winner. Only thing that im not hot on is the amount of clamps they use.

 

I gots to have one man. Where is best place to buy it?

You can see the power from the beginning of the curve... my baseline (262 WHP) that I put a couple of month ago w the Injen Grounding Kit and Resonetor Rem. and 7000+ miles was in the same Dyno that I run w the Borla.... I was very shy to only write the #'s because my Injen put around 9 WHP and with others members the Injen was putting only 2-3 whp, I dont know what it is but, everything I put in my Z gave what suppoust to give... Maybe is this Island!!!

P.S. Yes... I was smoking M3 (01+) for a few time now.

I already post it.... The dyno Comp. don't have the printer at the time I test the car.

 

I'm wondering about the performance increase of all these mods in light of the discovery by chebosto (I hope I spelled that right) that our ecu will retard ignition etc to bring the car's output back in line with stock form, even after mods have been done. Apparently they have found that right after you mod, there's a jump in HP and TQ but after a couple of weeks, the "adaptive" ecu has brought the power back down to stock form.

So, has anyone dyno'd their car right after a mod, and then a month later to compare the output?

 

I wonder the same thing I am not certain how that all works out with the ECU in the long run.

Did you mention that your power gains were consistent through the power band in the amount that is claimed?

 

The ECU might make some changes, but as Doug has shown with his headers and plenum, everything isn't negated. He dyno'd his car hundreds of miles after adding those parts and the gains were still there. In fact, his dynos were done after driving from Nashville to Atlanta.

 

That does sound promising.
