Default Any recommended throw out bearings?

Since Nissan's throw out bearings are crap does anyone have any recommendations for other companies that make bearings for the Z? I swear I had a new one put in at 50k miles and now at 20k miles its making noises again when the clutch is out.

you must be driving the car wrong. Do you leave it in gears while at a light or just most of the time?

yep been driving manuals all my life. Never leave it in gear at a stop, maybe previous owner did and that accerated the bearing wear. Search reveals I'm not alone and that its normal for Nissan bearings, hopefully there is a better manufacturer out there. I can live with it, its not a Lexus and I accept that, my Lexus is practically silent. Does not effect drivability or shifting in the slightest, more of an annoyance, you can't even hear it inside the cabin, only outside, or if you open the window at a drive thru and the sound bounces off the wall.

I made a video of it, you can hear the difference in sound clutch in vs clutch out at a stop. Clutch out = noisy, clutch in, silent. Leads me to belive its a noisy throwout bearing.

Second scene you can hear it because I had the clutch out and in neutral:

yea I guess the part isn't crap, I mean it does what its supposed to do, just looking for a higher quality, longer lasting bearing.

ah ok. yeah, the previous owner probably did. I drove quite awhile with the oem bearing with no sounds or problems at all. I'm never in gear or ever abuse the throw out bearing itself though. The thing that sucks is that you have to take the whole tranny back out just to put a new one in. Since you are doing that, mine as well upgrade a few things.

I haven't ruled out my lightweight flywheel, the NISMO isn't known for chatter but like you said, if I'm going to be in there anyway on my next clutch job may as well upgrade to the best bearing available, they aren't expensive.

the throw out bearing has alot of noise. I didn't think this was a debated issue.

if you have a lightweight flywheel it exacerbates the issue.

I don't know if anyone offers a replacement... Nismo possibly? I wish I would've done that when putting in my lightweight flywheel.

Here I was, rolling my eyes at this thread...

then I saw the video and heard that rock tumbling noise... WTF??

Mine definitely doesn't sound like that, mine just makes a whirrrrring sound.

Maybe aftermarket clutch is the way to go for you

at least the clutch works properly... can't say the same for all the 07 owners

isn't it just the chatter when at idle we are talking about?

I get that with my combo and most others with l/w flywheels (and stock cars, just alot less noise) report the same noise.

from that video, it might be that lightened flywheel with stock clutch. Bad throw out bearing sounds a bit different from that. When you hold the clutch in, the flywheel would stop making sounds as well.

I sadly cannot watch videos with sound right now as I ate my headphones (seriously) and now they don't work

my noise goes away when the clutch is disengaged (pedal in).

it most likely is from your flywheel not spinning when clutch is in. Throw out bearings usually squeek when they go bad. Every time you press the pedal, sqeeeek. It can make some other sounds but nothing that i hear in that video. Just flywheel chatter.

I'm not sure exactly, but whatever it is, it's way more noticable than on my car with stock clutch.

Of course... I raised my idle so this may quiet it down as well.

Notice I never "agreed" with the OP that the noise was due to the TOB.

if you look at your oem flywheel that you replaced, it has two discs...one side seems to dampen some of that chatter. After you switch to the single piece flywheel, it makes more chatter.

ok I will chalk it up to the lightweight fly wheel. I can live with it for the added acceleration For clarificaion, yes just makes that noise at idle.
