Hey Bro You dont need to go 10's, some nice 11's is all you need and you can hit that with 10K. I did!

Any Greddy, or PE TT, APS TT. will get you in the 11's with some DR's. This is with 400hp.

Dont get all spun up on running 10's, with 11's you can have a stock block with a turbo and a good ecu.

MRC is having a special for a APS TT installed and tuned ou the door for $8999, That wil get in the 11's all day long.

10 grand, its doable DIY. Having a shop do it turn key no way.

Strip the heck out of the car
Built Short block
Nitrous w/ progressive controller
Race Gas
Drag slicks and wheels
Couple of hours on the dyno
A few trips to the strip to get the progressive controller dialed for traction

Not a practical street set up, but $10,000 should be enough to get a 10.xxx sec slip in hand if you can DIY most of the labor and can hadle the car.

The Z is more of an overall performer car. If you just want to fly down the 1320 then there are much better cars than a Z. If you want to go to the track and hit turns quickly then a Z is a good choice. Maybe you should look into a domestic V8 if you are only interested in 1/4 mile.

your a server, and you average about a grand a month, but you have to factor in the differences (such as weather, time of year, etc) and not to mention, majority of your salary is based on the gratuities of others (pops owns a popular restaurant so i know all about it. so your monthly income will vary. i suggest you save up and have 1 big buy. get everything at once.

Buy a street bike. Under 10k and can do 10's out of the box.

You guys are so one minded.....

You can EASILY run 10's in a Z... for less than 10k geez!

Step one, cut a hole in a box.... wait jk,

Seriously, slap a tuned STS kit on to get the power up around 350, then get it tuned for a few $$$.

Then toss some DR's on the back.

And finally, strip the car. Every ****ing piece that does not concern with moving forward. ALL the interior, the ENTIRE BODY, and since you only care about going <10.9, take those pesky heavy brake rotors/calipers OFF. at 50 pounds, that has to be good for 8whp.

Now you got a 10 second Z!

basically all im asking is how much $ do you think you'd need to put into a 350z to make it a 10 second car (aside from the driver, most important piece).

if not a 10 second car, how fast do you think 10,000 in strictly performance upgrades could get me? thanks a lot guys.

Take $5000 and learn how to handle your car. Track/Driving school. Take the rest and invest it for a few years untill you are ready for a fast car. Your only 17 and I don't want to hear about some 17 year old kid on my local news getting killed in his 10 second car.

Stop worrying about how to make a car go fast that you dont even own. All you should worry about is going to school and making good grades, not how much "mad moneyz y01!!" you can make in a month. 1k a month in the real world is below the poverty line...think you could live like that? Go to a good college, get a good job, THEN worry about buying your toys.

Get the *** outta here, you couldnt even handle a 14 second Z let alone a 10 second Z.

1) Buy a Z
2) learn how to drive it for a few years
3) buy performance mods if you want
