Default Advice for new clutch

Hey all,

I am currently in the market for a new clutch/flywheel and was wondering what you would recommend. I just have basic bolt-ons (intake, spacer, and exhaust) and different wheel/tires (245/40/18 & 285/35/18 on Work Emotion CR) but I do drive my car like I stole it... I was thinking of going with the Clutchmaster's FX300 and flywheel combo, the JWT combo, or going with Competition Clutch stage 3 and Steel flywheel. I currently have an ACT stage 2 clutch and Fidanza flywheel I've had for 20K miles and am not really happy with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a happy holiday.

my JWT combo has been exceptional. The combo clamps down hard to say the least.

what are your power goals??

i found that spending money on clutches was a waste of time because i knew eventually i would want lots of power...so i just went straight for the ATS Triple Disc Carbon Clutch...pricey, but needless to say ill never need another clutch....EVER!!

I myself have a clutchmaster flywheel, jwt pressure plate and a stage 2 clutchnet.net disk. I love my setup, almost feels stock now. Shop around the clutchnet.net disk is the only one i have seen so far out of the 3 i have tried that takes up the entire friction surface. which to me grabs a lot better

JWT is probably the loudest setup out. (From what I read here, still to be determined as no one posted up a sound clip comparison). I personally went with a Exedy Stage 1 Clutch kit, and a ACT Streetlite flywheel along with a Stainless Steel Braided clutch line. Absolutely love this setup. Best money spent on the Z so far.

I heard that it was pretty noisy. I have an ACT/Fidanza combo and it's annoyingly loud at a stop light. And whenever I have someone in the car they ask if there's something wrong with it... Jim wolf uses an Exedy clutch and a Fidanza flywheel from what I've heard. So no one's used Competition Clutch's products before? I was hoping to hear what their reactions were... Thanks again everyone.

I believe that how much noise you get with a LW flywheel is directly related to how tight or loose your transmission is.
Looser gears, more wear=more noise.

i have also ACT stage 2 clutch 6 spring cluch and light flywheel, i think the noise is from the clutch not from the flywheel.... i hate this setup but i also love it, cuz when you drive on the traffic is crazy, very difficult to drive, but if you are racing or running a highway is cool, the rpm's goes s fast.... is cool.

The performance is great, but the chatter is annoying. I was told it's because of the 2 piece flywheel and the fact that it doesn't have an additional weight to help with the noise. Also, I feel that the flywheel was way too much for the clutch. I have only had this clutch for about 20K miles and it already needs to be replaced...

I have heard a lot of good things about Competition Clutch. I'll probably go with their stage 2 and a fidanza flywheel... when it needs to be done.
