Default Borla dual installed - another opinion

sorry guys... no dyno.... BUT

I LOVE IT! Install took me about 2 hours.... I didn't have a lift so I used ramps and jack stands. Installation was a snap.... everything lined up perfectly. The clamp system used works very well and is a great way for do it yourselfers...

After the install I drove about 20 miles. I can definatley feel some extra ponies. I'd say it's close to the 20hp Borla claims...

My G-Tech Competition Pro indicates about .15 seconds faster than stock in 0-60 and hp goes up anywhere from 15-25 hp. HP numbers arent very accurate with G-Tech but times are real close.

THE SOUND is AWESOME! Just as quiet as stock when at idle but when you open it up it has a grumbly roar unlike anything I've heard from a Japanese car.... Sounds very much like an exotic Italian car when under hard acceleration....

For the first few miles it was burning in and smelt pretty bad and was smoking but that went away towards the end of my drive.... I'm anxious to see how it sounds when fully broken in...

The Borla True Dual is a KEEPER! Go out and spend your bucks on this sucker!

Yup, I bit the bullet too. God, this thing seems like it was made for me. The sound is exactly what I wanted from an exhust...not too loud, but ****ing beatiful...and at the same time, its mean buisness.

I too had the Borla Dual installed today and LOVE it....

Things i noticed..........

1. Sounds slightly deeper than stock and comes exoticly alive at WOT.
2.Noticeably lighter than stock.
3. Borla Quality
4.Anybody with minamal tool skill can install it. Very easy after watching installer....
5. Tips out back are bigger and look much better than stock.
6. I also noticed a lot smoother engine at WOT.
7. I can also say that i felt an increase in HP.

Default Phenomenon

Isn't this Borla phenomenon crazy?!

This seems like the single most popular mod that we are going so ****ing crazy over.... I've not seen so much excitement over any other mod yet...... damn cool if you ask me....

Thanks Mr. Borla

Absolutely amazing, and all without a proof positive DYNO to show for it.

I don't find the excitement "cool" at all; manufacturers tend to exploit this uncontained emotion by using it to determine prices for their products. Go out and buy a car with this kind of excitement? The dealership will smell it and you WILL pay.

To all: please try to contain your excitement. Nobody wants to pay more than any product is worth.

Default question for all of you

Will the exhaust system be absolete when a turbo is installed later on? I want to eventually put on some turbos in the car, and I dont want to get any mod right now that will be replaced with a turbo, for example CAI. so is this exhaust system something that will be replaced with a turbo setup?

I wonder if there's a problem with the new smaller muffler allowing air get to reach inside of the back bumper plastic between the two tailpipes causing the rear bumper to bulge out at Highway speeds? Where the old muffler fit aerodynamically right up against it not allowing air to hit it.

So if somebody wants to try traveling around 70 mi. an hour and have a friend hangout of the hatchback to check if that's occurring just be careful not hit any bumps

I did notice this during the install.. the stock muffler has some air diffusers/baffles which direct the air

I was thinking about crawling under there and seeing how hard it would be to fabricate some .020 aluminum sheet in the proper place... I still have a 4x10 sheet of that stuff that I need to use...

ive already ordered the borla dual exhaust and was thinking about installing it myself. numerous people have said in effect the same thing "any idiot can install this thing". so does that mean that welding is required or just clamps and no welding?
