I have an '04 but I am not sure what constitutes an '04.5.

Does that mean that it was built in or around June of 2004?

My Z was delivered brand new in March of '04.

Well its a good thing that they honor there warranty's untill the end. I tell u with my Maxima before I couldnt get anything under warranty covered. They gave me a hassle over everything.

I guess the Z owners get special attention. They treat me so nice at every dealership with my car. I do tip everyone I see usually and always give the mechanic at least 50$.

Im a marine mechanic and when a customer comes up and gives me a tip I try to take extra special care of them. So I would assume a car mechanic would do the same for me when I hand him a 50.

I doubt that if you put in 5 quarts you get exactly *all* of the 5 quarts back for the no oil consumption issue. If you see greater than the halfway mark on the dipstick, you're good.

Well Dropped off the Z in the morning last week and picked it up with the new motor the next morning. Talk about fast!

Overall feels the same as the last motor. Ive put over 700 miles on it this week and most of them were driver HARD with one trackday and it hasnt burnt a drop of oil and the oil is crystal clear.

Will post some pics if u guys express some interest. Just looks like the old motor only real shiny!

Also they restarted my powertrain warranty.

So basically my 04.5 Z has got a new engine and transmission under warranty. Ive never had this much work done on a car ever in my 30 years of life. Whatever!

Did the dealer put everything from your old engine onto the new one? Or did you just put your car completely back to stock before taking it to the dealer.

I have an 04.5 MT and I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow to get it tested for oil consumption.

i took off everything, I even removed the K&N filter. Im serious, I didnt want to risk this not working out. Take off everything.

I actually had a problem with the car not starting the other day and took it back to the mechanic that did the swap, when he started the car he laughed and said that its a good thing I took all this stuff off because they would have voided me.

Turned out to be a loose battery cable.

Oh yea, I have a buddy with a shop and we did it all in one sweep. I actually took off the 5/16 spacer the night before I dropped it off. I getting pretty good at installing plenum spacers now, I can put it on in about 30 minutes, and thats even with the proper torques also.
