i dont think it is a good idea removing the strut brace.. the car was designed with the idea there would be a brace there, so removing it may have intersting consequences later on

Actually, it wasn't. The original photos and first cars had no strut bars. I remember when this topic was covered after the first picture surfaced with it on by a Nissan insider claiming it an added extra they threw in. You will also notice it is not present on the G35C.

While I agree the car should have this, it is not necessary. I have heard from several people who are running with it off that it handles better (less push) with out it. I am running a custom bar on mine and I do like the way it handles over the stock bar. Go figure???

Why go stillen, have to remove the bar, get less hp, have no intercooler as compared to ATI procharger with all of the above????

I have not heard too many things about Stillen as a company from others on this site.

Also, a while ago a Stillen rep posted some info about their exhaust, and he came across as a pretty shady character (or at least he was so un-helpful that the company did not seem like they wanted him giving info).

I don't like how the Stillen S/C requires a different hood and removes the strut bar.

I think for drag racing it might be pretty good since the very flat torque curve is maintained. Might be easier to get a good launch with better torque down low.

For road racing I would prefer the ProCharger or maybe Vortec because they seem easier to package in the Z's engine and because the low end may not be as critical. Of course, in this case the ProCharger is putting out more boost, so the two can't be compared too closely.

Due to what I've heard and read on this site, I personally would not buy something from Stillen unless it has been proven by other members as well. It sounds like they typically produce a decent product, but I'm a bit skeptical of their customer service.

Just my opinion, though, and I've never dealt with them personally, other than through this board.

Id prefer getting the Pro-charger instead since its a centrifugal supercharger (and the fact that I can put a bov on it). I was never really a fan of positive displacement superchargers.

I'll go with a Stillen or possibly another roots type SC if another manufacturer releases one. I'm personally not interested in road racing my Z, but drag racing it. I prefer the flat torque curve the stillen makes over spooling up for some tq to kick in. I need instant oomph down low, and the more the better . But all that will wait till my warranty expires after 70k miles . Aside from replacing the internals of the engine, I'll also regear the sc for more boost. I would like to get around 12 - 15 psi with decent engine life. As for the bar, since I'm not going to be madly cornering at over 100 mph, I don't care if it's removed. It's unfortunate that's there so many damn cops here in colorado to not be able to push the Z well above 100mph, but hey, I won't mind getting my 0-60 times in the 3 second range. . I have a goal of getting my Z into the 11 second range or better while keeping it streetable as it's my daily driver. I love street dragging my Z, but right now I can't keep up with stock Corvette's (go figure lol), and modded mustangs. But it was also fun to get my *** handed to me by a 563 fwhp honda civic (talked to the guy before and after dragging, sweet *** car man!). But with time and money, my Z will be able to hand them their asses royally as these cars have so much damn potential! . I also don't mind having to replace the hood, although I'll look around for more options such as going with a Veil Side hood and just put a cowl in it for clearance. I love speed, but I especially love dragging , it'll be a fun time to try and get the Z to get 3 second 0-60's LOL. But I think it's definately possible, just gotta have some great low end OOOOMPH!

Stillen is a good company...they been around for years and are normally over priced, but with this s/c its prices at a very reasonable price. I personally am not a big fan of the twin screw on these cars since low end HP is not a biggy. The twin screw is great for trucks looking for more low end power to tow, in my personal opinion. The main issue I have with the twin screw compressors on these cars is that they do not adjust to well to upgrades like the centrifugal compressors. Number one they are limited in the amount of boost they produce due to heat issues...number two they are very hard to adapt intercoolers too. I guess I just like a s/c that will adapt to performance parts easily, since this vehicle is going to have a wide range of upgrades available for it. It just seems like the centrifugal type compressors will be more idea for this type of vehicle. But in the end it all depends what your goal is.
