I believe I have heard this type of sound on other G35s and 350Zs, but I just wanted to see if it's normal.

In this video, I am pushing the clutch in and letting it out several times. When the clutch is pressed in, the rattling is gone. When the car is idling with the clutch out, it is rattling. It also rattles the loudest just as then engine is being turned off. I can't hear it at all when listening to the engine bay with the hood open. It sounds like it might be coming from the header/cat/midpipe area.
It's a 2007 350Z that is completely stock and still under warranty. If it's a normal sound, I can live with it. If not, I'll have the dealership check it out when they are doing the recall slave cylinder work.
Thanks,
Brian

Ah okay cool, thanks for the suggestion. I figured it was normal. I'd rather get any/all warranty work out of the way while I'm still stock

I searched and saw several people suggest the noise was from a bad throw-out bearing when a guy said his was louder than usual. I figured it wouldn't hurt to post a video of my specific noise to make sure it wasn't anything abnormal.

Maybe its an older Z thing?

I shouldn't have said it's input shaft bearings though, there are other internal trannsmission issues that could be the culprit, gear lash is one that comes to mind, which would better explain why many members who have had similiar noise not progress into worse problems, also explains why this is a common sound when eliminating the dual-mass flywheel. But one things for sure, that sound is NOT the TOB
ahh max.org member here too!
yea i picked up a 04 track and its making that same noise..95% of the time it rattles...after it was warmed up for like 10mins idling no noise when i turn the car off..

i have a 08 and it started doing it at 500 miles. i just got a new transmission and it does it on that one too so i dont think its the tranny. ive asked nissan but they said its normal and cant fix it
the only thing i can think of is the clutch but i dont know enough to pin point it.

guys. thats the tranny gear noise. Thats normal for your case. Every manual has it and some are very quiet and some are noticable.
When you push the clutch in, you cant hear because the tranny gears arent spining. lettin go, you are engaging the shafts therefore spinning the transmission gears.
Check your transmissions oil if anything.
