here's something i've wondered for a while. How long does oil take to circulate completely through the VQ35HR? Assume a constant highway engine speed, say 2200 rpm's. Anyone ever put any research into it?

well let me put it this way, if you didnt have any oil in your engine...
as in if you drained it and put a dry filter on...it would take only a matter of 30-45 seconds at idle to seize your engine. at highway speed, less than a few seconds probably.
if i had to guess, i would say it circulates the oil every minute or so at highway speed.

This is ludicrous--First of all your oil is picked up by the pump and in a pressurized state, takes a journey to your crank, where it flows and lubricates your Main and Rod Brgs...some pushed out to fall back into the bottom end. What isnt, is pushed up your Rods, where it lubes the wrist pin and gives the cylinder a shot.
In the mean time there is another tributary that is taking the oil to the top end to lube your Cam Brgs that is pushed out to lube your valve guides, springs and cam lobs then drip back down to the bottom end.
Lack of oil pressure is determined by the clearances in your Main,Rod and Cam brgs ---the more the clearance (Wear) the less the pressure
Other than that ...I don't have a Clue to OPs question
