Default where to get FD gears installed?

I have a set of 4.083 FD gears that i want to be installed and I wen't to my local nissan dealership and they told me it was a 10 hr job at $70 per labor hr, which is rediculous since i know for a fact it's shouldn't be no more than 3-4 hrs, so what other type of shop does installs like this?, transmission shops or what. because i don't wanna pay $700+ for something thats going to take only 3 hrs.

well your best bet may be to take it to a tranny shop.
bring the diff in and have them swap it out...

i took mine to a shop called Performance Concepts lol. place specializes in rice mostly, boosting hondas acuras and workin on LSx's. If youre a mechanic you can do a final drive install, just talk to the guy thats doing it and make sure theyre competent...see if theyve done FD swaps in a Z before.

They are the only ones with the tools and experience to do this properly.

thats about how much is should cost, but they said it's a 10 hr job, and even if it takes them 3 hrs i still have to pay for 10, which is so stupid.

Do a little callin around --- I do installs but you need someone that is Hot in your area----It takes time and patience and dial indicators and Gear Mesh greases and Pride to do it Gnats ***---A good place with a guy that is Hot will charge a couple hundred Bucks to cover his time and another 200 thrown in for his knowledge

I think payin $500 for the gear swap was the best money I spent so far on the car. I think $500 is reasonable. Just because one person got it for a certain amount does not make it the president of all gear change prices. I rather pay a little higher to a reputable shop than have some normal mechanic install it for cheaper.
