I like the way you think.... I am getting the Borla for my G35 coupe at the end of this month, and was thinking the same thing. I am not going to worry about paint since she does not look that close, but the sound would be something she would notice.

I may just say........."Hey baby, it is finally broken in. "

I also am going to paint the muffler black to match the stock muffler. Summit has the Borla on backorder so it will be least 2 weeks for it to come in my installer. I anxious to hear what it sound like in person because this seems like a cheap way to pick up power without any radical mods that screw up the warranty.
I had the same concern, now after three weeks since install it's barely louder than stock at all unless you really lace into the throttle then you definitely noticed a difference. It seem like it took awhile for it too break-in and I feel it actually got quieter maybe it's just that I got used to it but it definitely seems quieter now after three weeks.

Thumbs up Borla Exhaust

Thanks guys for your input about wives and noticing the new exhaust. My wife is very observant and that is why I am going to paint it black so when she drives up to the garage she won’t immediately see a difference. I am glad also that the sound isn’t that much different, Thanks again

Are you talking about painting the muffler section, don't worry about it she would have to be about a foot tall to see it. it's kinda tucked up underneath. The original want is much larger and visible.

Yeah, I'm starting to notice the rattle everynow and then, which I think is the H-pipe hitting the brace as well. I know they were concerned about this when installing, you could tell it was a snug fit. I thought they had it set so that it wouldn't. Oh well, guess I need to take it in.

For those with free time, put some Mother's Aluminum polish on the muffler. I know I know its hard to see, but you will know it's shiney!!!

Default OK, what exactly do you mean when you say "the borlas sound great"?

Do you mean "great" as in:

a) whirRRrRRRRrrrrr ricey civic

b) VROOOOOOOOOM red neck mustang

or c) a powerful humming during acceleration and NOT at idle (the way a Z should always sound)

I've been thinking about getting the Borlas but I need some assurance that they're not a or b. Some sound samples (wav) would be great.

Default WOW

First of all, I'm wondering if all you pansies worried about your wife had the car bought for you by her mother or something...
LOL!! sorry, 'nuff of that!

The Borlas make the Z sound like a european performance machine... Like a hot BMW or tuned-out Maserati !

They are NOT loud. You can FEEL it slightly more inside the car but it is definitely not obtrusive.

When I bought the Z I was trading a 2002 Altima 3.5 SE with very few miles on it which she didn’t like the idea at all to start with. After a while she got to be more in favor of it because she also liked the Z. Being married is like a trade off to get along or at war all the time you have to be willing to put up with each other or not. I knew when I posted that message I would get someone taking pot shots at me so have your fun. You did take the opportunity. Now I hope enough has been said.

I am glad that you are happily married. After being married 34 years you learn a lot about your spouse. As to what I'll do next as for mods we will see what is coming out.
