Hey guys,
My stock ECM is part #MEC31-901-A1 2Z11
Does that mean, that I need to find a used unit with the exact same part #? Or can I get a ECM that matches up to the MEC31-901-A1? or MEC31-901??
There are a bunch on ebay and car-part.com with multiple variations, but none exactly the same all the way thru
The car is a 2003 G35 6mt coupe.
Thanks!

If you want to guarantee that it works correctly, then get one with the same part number. Check out this page....

As you can see, there are a lot to choose from, different years, different models, different transmissions, etc. For example, it won't do you any good to get an ECU for a AT car when yours is MT, etc.

ya i know about the keys. Used ECMs are under $400 as a new one is over 1k$ so I wanna explore used 1st.
doesnt seem like anyone has really replaced their ECM. Maybe a dealer would know? Local shop isnt that helpful though.

I found the infiniti part #23710-Am703 for $663. Dealer reprograms it for $100.
Only problem is that there is no reference to the MEC31-A901-A1 number though.
He said that was the part # based on my VIN, but that part # seems pretty generic in the description based on the multitude of MECxx-xxx-xx #'s you see on the web
argh... I wish someone knew what #'s etc were critical

Well i was told that Technosquare uses the big 2 digit code on the ECU as the identifier. I found a used computer with that same 2 digit code but a different MEC#. Its from the same year and tranny. Fingers crossed it works.
