It is out of the shop manual. The procedures for resetting codes, thottle, etc have been posted before recently, I think in TXSTYLE's Borla thread.

sorry for what might be a stupid question, but could someone please clarify what the chart is saying to do and the reasons for resetting the ecu. i have a few mods to the car and am wondering if this reseting will counter the downgrade of power due to the ecu correcting for the mods i have done.(exaust, intake, earthing kit,)thanks

Well... there seems to be two camps here. Some would say no.
If you believe what Technosquare is all about then yes.. it will 'un-detune' the ECU.

Spoken like a politically correct Clint E. Do you feel lucky.....Sir?

the easy to read Verson posted by Mannishboy a LOOOONG time ago... But i used it this moring and it works great.. (also a good trick for Racing)

1) Turn ignition on, wait 3 seconds
2) Push fully and release the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds
3) Wait 7 secs, fully push gas pedal and hold for 10 seconds until the CES light starts to blink
4) Release gas pedal (you are in diagnostic test mode 2)
5) Press and hold gas pedal for more than 10 seconds. Release pedal.
6) Sacrifice a goat, and pour its blood all over your naked body while trying to ask the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi to peacefully cut off the light without violence (perform this last step with the garage door close, as to avoid arrest)

That one at least resets the codes. There is also another very similar procedure that might be needed, too, that is in the Borla thread. I'm not sure if clearing the codes from diagnostics also clears the learning or not. I suspected it did initially, but after reading that other procedure, I'd probably do both just to be safe.

I have to ask: if (as the posts the link ties to explain) resetting the ECU brings it back to its basic settings and then it will again learn to compensate for the mods .... why do it?

I'm not trying to argue but I'm not understanding why I'd do this -- lots of extra fuss for a very temporary adjustment.

Thankx in advance. J

If you go to the track it would be good so that you can have full advantage of your mods. Yes it is temporary until an ECU is released for the car.

Prolly. Unless it has already reverted back to normal. Then you don't have to worry. Even if the techs who did it say it won't revert, they don't know.

For those that have done this,
I can't seem to get my SES(CE) light to stop blinking after I make it blink. It seems to blink at varying rates, stops for a few seconds, and then blinks again. Am I doing this correctly? Did I reset it?

if you count the blinks (3 blinks pause 10 blinks pause 5 blinks) that is code 305. after it does that, hold down the Gas pedal for 10 more sec. and then it will only blink 10 times and repeat 10 blinks. That means you have reset the ECM

All of this HAS TO BE DONE WITH THE ENGINE OFF. But the Key "on"

My question:
Will resetting the ECU make the first-1200-mile break-in period start all over again? (My car has almost 12,000 miles on it and I'd not want to go through that again.)

Break in Has to Do with Letting all the seals, gaskets, and Pistons set, and getting the metal flakes (from the block) out of the engine. it has NOTHING to do with the ECM
