Sure their will be consumers who are willing and have the ability to pay for these Nismo products BUT the proportions of those who are willing to those who simply own a Z are not enough for optimal sales.
There are plenty of demand factors and we all wish there was a "simple" reason why companies wait.
Simply put: If i made a magical item that boosted Z HP and voided your warranty....I would wait a couple years when most of my potential customer's warranties are on the brim. They are more "willing" to consume my product.
Why should I waste money NOW distributing products and keeping them on the shelves for only a handful of customers who are willing to take a risk?

This is true. And good point about demand, Boomer. The aftermarket is waiting because there is not a large enough base, they perceive, to warrant mass producing all the parts we would love to see. That is another reason they are priced high.
Anyways, creating demand is a misconception and a common one at that. Please explain how someone can CREATE demand. Either someone wants it or they don't. You can only respond to demand and you can, however, manipulate it.
Can I create a demand, Boomer, for you to want women's shoes? Maybe to buy for your wife but that is what is known as latent demand. Not your demand. Either way, it is impossible to create demand, you can only determine a need/want and fill that need/want.
I guess it could be construed as creating demand when a consumer does not know that they need something. For instance, someone is walking around wishing they did not have to make the grueling drive to work. There is a demand for teleportation devices. Or maybe something less technical like, well, I don't know... That is what I mean. Something will come out to fill a need, maybe subconcious, that we didn't realize we were needing. If you are unhappy about something then there is a demand there for a product or service to make you happy. But you may accept your unhappiness and never realize this need.
Blah blah blah. I don't want to talk about this anymore. What is this thread about again? Oh yes, so who is actually going to wait to see what happens on the FI scene and who is going to jump on those two or so products that are out now???
MrPotatoHead, that's what marketing people are for. Sure, you just can't "create" demand, as you said that is impossible, but if you put a thought into someone's mind that they "need" something, then you have in essence created an artificial demand for a product.
But yeah, this topic is boring and we can make the world go round if we wanted to. Personally, I'm waiting for the twin turbo setup. Whether it be from PE or Greddy is up in the air.

wow. semantics.
I am the market.
what do i want? something that works and is available for purchase from a company with a decent reputation that will provide support for their product.
simple.
I make my living designing products. i know what a nightmare it is. I am happy to wait.
but it would be nice to get one tommorrow.

Hey Charles.
Yeah, I don't know about the Greddy NA-to-turbo kits but we built several T78, T88, TD06... kits and they are quite ok. But comparing the quality to HKS turbo kits I have to say that HKS is always worth the more money.
Headers fit better and the wastegate can be connected to the downpipe.
I only don't know why HKS can't send an intake for their kits.
Whats with all this talk of marketing and crap? Not only that, but its not like they are missing out on sales by taking their time getting it out. Its a brand new car, its only been out for what.. a year? Its got like 10 more to go before its out of production. Lets get real here... how many people have already got their alternatives? What... maybe 8 people have already ordered the supercharger?
Greddy is not up to something or using some type of strategy on you guys or nothing of the sort. They simply test their products for a long time and sometimes will not release the kit until it is already CARB exempt.
When I spoke with some guys at Greddy 2 weeks ago he told me that the car they have the prototype on has been running for a long time like that and they have put on satisfactory miles and useage and now they are going to start manufacturing the setup. He had told me that the manifolds casting molds were being made. This is good because the casting is the biggest part of manufacturing a product of this sort.
Its only natural to assume that Greddy hasnt released their kit yet for one and only one simple reason. Its not done yet.

Yeah, it'll be worth the wait.
Especially here in europe, where the car doesn't come out before end of september.
So I don't have your problems guys! hehe
My Civic Type R (which I am going to sell for the Z now) is out 1,5 years and everyone is waiting for a turbo-setup as well. It'll come out after the car exists 2 years

Actually your civic type R utilizes the k20a2, the same engine in the rsx type S. Turbo kits have been out for the car for quite some time now. The cybernation motorsports kit has been out since .... damn I think back around October or November, maybe even before that. The Greddy was just released a few weeks ago. The car has been in the states for 2 years now. So roughly 15 month was the wait time on the first turbo kit. While the aftermarket was coming quite quickly for the car, to be honest I think the 350z aftermarket has developed faster.

However, if I wouldn't sell my CTR now I'd wait for the HKS GT2835 or GT3037 turbo kit and try it.
Actually plans have changed and I ordered my Z but my mech owns the CTR too. - We'll find out.
Don't know about HKS. We installed the Gt3037 in a 240sx and it's a great turbo. I think Hondas should stay NA. TODA Racing is doing great parts for the K20A.
I have to sell my CTR for 1/3rd of the price for my Z (37.000 Euro which is about 42.500USD) but I'm sure it's worth it.
Go with the Z! In stock outfit is's only slightly faster than our cars but it'll be much easier to reach bigger numbers

Well a good 1 second in the quarter mile, and better looking to boot. Also, yea it has much more potential, 1.5 liters, rwd, etc will do that. I'm really excited just thinking about it, test drove a track model a couple weeks ago... ahh the salesman looked like he was gonna **** his pants when my accelerator foot got stuck while in 1st gear
.
As for honda's yes the N/A idea is sweet, but things like the stage 2 cybernation motorsports kit makes FI very tempting. Toda is doing ok, but if I were to keep the car, and go N/A I'd wait to see how Hytech does.
