5w30, 10w 30 -it won't make any meaningful difference between them - either works just fine

With the different weights it depends on location, climate, and the type of driving you do. In the winter time you don't want too think of an oil because it's not that great on the vehicle's internals. It's like your pistons and etc... are moving through syrup. Now in the heat you can go thinner or thicker, but depending on the type of driving you do. The harder you push your car the hotter the oil becomes and when you factor in climate you can thin your oil more than you think, and then the oil is no longer protecting your internals. So in the summer time you can mix your oil weights, like 4 quarts of 5 and 1 quart of 20 or whatever mix you need for your area and your style of driving, or you can just go one lighter weight.

I went back in and asked why they didn't put 10W in. They said because it is warm out now it doesnt matter if it is 5 or 10 W.

I know next to nothing about oil but is this a big deal. Should I drive back up and demand they put 10W in. They have it too, they just said they put 5W in?

I do not track the car but I do drive it hard often. Is this going to screw up my engine in any way with the 5W instead of the 10W.

Next time I will just bring the Mobil 1 with me.

It will be fine.
