Its actually pretty easy as all you do is drop the trans pan and let it drain for about 20 minutes. Then just unbolt the valve body being carefull as to leave the trans selector in the same position as it came out.Take the new unit and install in reverse and be very carefull not to over tighten the v/b bolts.Fill the trans with nissan j matic fluid only and mine took 9 quarts.
The reason mine took so many is i bought mine from Zulater(Matt) who is a mod here and his came from a z-mine is a g.I had to switch over all the solenoids and electrical connectors for it to work in a g.The z has 1 connector the g has 2.

I know this makes for faster shifting between gears. Are the shifts harsh?
I remember putting a shift kit in a TH400 ('69 GTO)... it made harsh and noisy. I was OK with it then, but I want something more refined in the Z.
1st hand reports anyone?

I just had it installed. Shifts are much quicker which makes the car feel quicker. Shifts aren't to harsh unless you really get on it. Wish i could test it out more but i just got a speeding ticket 3 hours after i had it installed. A "must do" upgrade if you ask me.

The Transgo is a DIY rebuild kit...Back when I did my VB they didn't have the rebuild kit. You had to take the OEM one and sent it out to have it upgraded.I think thats what superchargedg was referring to.

When you get on it, is it a slamming feeling? (That's what I remember from the last AT I drove with a shift kit.)
lol!
Definitely on my short list.

I'm going to have to find some local (SoCal) peeps with the TransGo and Stillen VBs so I can get 1st hand test drives with both to see which I'm comfortable with.

Hello all
I just bought an 05 Z with this kit already installed... It shifts great going up in gears, but there is an issue with downshifting:
When going 50-60 on the highway and I ease into it, it will bypass 4th and jump to 3rd gear, BUT it will not unlock the convertor, thus it BANGS into gear. And I mean hard like I got hit from behind.
The only way to avoid this issue is to slap over to manual mode (unlocking convertor and putting in 4th) and then floor it, then slap back to auto mode.
Anyone have this same issue with this transgo kit??
